Summit Structures — Local services in Albany

Like many others I spent a great deal of time researching options and comparing products. Based on their many positive reviews I decided to contact Summit Structures and had a very congenial and productive conversation with Chris Lewis. As others have mentioned he is knowledgeable, patient and not pushy. I ordered a 12'X28' shed knowing that permits would be required and paid the additional $2000 for the necessary plans. Chris did not disclose that it would take almost 2-months to have the plans completed with multiple iterations before they were ready for submittal. The city permitting process only took a couple of days and I assumed construction of my shed would be underway. After a week I checked in with Chris and he indicated that he would get back to me with an update. I heard nothing and after patiently waiting for 5-weeks checked in again only to find out that absolutely zero progress has been made on my shed. Summit's excuse was they needed a copy of the approved plans. They knew when the plans were approved, and I made sure they knew exactly what changes (minor) were made by the Building Official. They did not ask for a copy of the approved plans until after 6-weeks had passed. Bottom line they did not start the construction of my shed until 14-weeks after I signed the contract, and the shed was not delivered until 17-weeks after I signed the contract. The shed is beautiful, and delivery and set-up were a breeze. The Building Official did identify one minor addition that needed to be made for approval and Summit had some one here to make the modification the next business day. After months of researching the various shed companies and getting quotes for several different sizes and styles of sheds I decided to go with Summit Structures due to their exceptional customer service, 12-year warranty, and all their positive reviews online. Chris was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and professional. He walked me through the entire process and answered my million and a half questions. One thing I really appreciated was how quickly Chris responded back to my questions as I was planning my project. I also really appreciated the fact that Chris was not pushy. Prior to working with Summit I called two other local shed builders in my town and they did not seem interested in my business because I was not ready to purchase the same day. I appreciated that Chris understood that buying a shed is a major purchase for most people and not every customer is knowledgeable or familiar with construction terminology. Summit Structures is an amazing company that truly cares about their community. They give back and care about people. This company has been an absolute blessing to our Ministry helping when we had a great need. Jason has been great to work with and is high energy(Clearly passionate about his job).
