UPDATE: April 15, 2025 around 1:30pm I was doing a small DoorDash order that contained 2 items. I also grabbed me two things to purchase separately which was a gallon of water and a Celsius energy drink. Once I reached self checkout I set my stuff on the left and started checking out the DoorDash order. I scanned the grapes and set it to the right forgetting to weigh them but before I even realized then lady came running over. After we fixed the grapes she proceeded to ask me whereās my barcode. I said it didnāt have a barcode. She said I saw you scanning a barcode. I go back on my app and look to make sure but there was no barcode that I missed. Sometimes when doing grocery orders for Instacart and DoorDash there isnāt a barcode so she assumed and lied saying she saw me scanning it. I also never even mentioned I was doing DoorDash, why didnāt she just fix the grapes and walk away? Why am I getting questioned? Then she proceeded to ask me how many orders was I doing and I said one. Iām guessing she asked because I didnāt scan my water and Celsius that was placed on the left. But again, why are you questioning how many orders am I do at self checkout and also when I never mentioned I was doing DoorDash? After finishing the DoorDash order I start to check out my two items and then the other lady comes behind me to look to see if I scanned it. Letās be real for a second, why would I steal a gallon of water and a Celsius? Why would I steal from a store I shop at everyday, multiple times a day? Iām not going to call the employees completely racist. They're just stereotyping. If youāre not dressed a certain way, sometimes a certain skin tone, then theyāll harass you at self check out and wonāt think twice about it. I was told the issue would be fixed but the message didnāt get out because the same workers are doing it. I will continue to speak up for myself and for the people who experience the same thing at this store. Stop judging people from how they look. When will your employees realize we see you guys eyeballing one person. When will your employees realize thatās harassment? When I first mentioned it to the front end manager she said it was because I had a large cart, now whatās your excuse????
This wegmans has so many options. A bar, breakfast, hot bar, sandwiches, ready made meals, etc. Itās literally the perfect grocery store. But once Iāve enjoyed shopping through the store and go to self check out I get stared at every single time. I find it very disrespectful and intimidating. I told the front end manager how I get stared at every time Iām at self check out but I guess the message didnāt get out because itās still happening. The first time it happened two employees came rushing over to me at the same time. I didnāt realize I didnāt scan the water because I was using the gun but I was going to check then screen once I walked back over. They were watching me so hard I guess they didnāt realize they both were coming. And just today the lady around 11-12 came and stopped and stared at me. Now every time they do it I stare back at them. If they can stop and stare at me then imma do the same. I understand people steal but teach your employees to take laps around self check. Iām not gonna pull the race card because you never know what people are thinking. Iām just a normal person trying to instacart and make a living but getting disrespected everytime I come in the store hurts. After I instacart I still come in and get lunch and snacks throughout the day but Iām just starting to feel uncomfortable to shop in the store. But other than the rude self check out employees everyone is very helpful and nice like Patty in produce. Itās usual the older people and the guy that stands at the desk thatās disrespectful. The younger ones are very sweet and helpful when theyāre doing self checkout, Im not sure what their names are. I donāt complain about empty shelfs or a slightly dirty bathroom, thatās silly but the self checkout issue is pretty sad. If you wanna play security how about go get that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWegmans. Oh boy, where do I start? Fresh produce, amazing atmosphere, eye catching products and faculty š, especially Declan Gaffeny. This guy! Oh man, where do I start. He comes to work with a smile on his face everyday, with an immaculate work attitude and ethic. This guy knows everything about being a true worker and cashier. He really is the Lebron or Brady of being a cashier and knows the ins and outs of wegmans like the back of his hand, itās almost like ever since he was out the womb heās been a cashier. He shows integrity, confidence, and swag with every swipe and beep. His leadership skills are impeccable and are not even comparable to 2018 Lebron of the Cavs. In my opinion, Lebron and Declan Gaffeny shouldnāt even be used in the same sentence because of just his amazing attributes and qualities that Lebron does not attain. Everytime I go to Wegmans and order something, I always request Declan Gaffeny to handle my orders. He always smells the best and his swag and ādripā is almost unreal and truly impeccable. If he wasnāt handling orders at Wegmans, I truly think he could be a model, just because of his swag, fit, and smell, of which I could smell any time, anywhere, any day. His face always captivates my mood. If heās smiling, Iām smiling. If heās sad, Iām sad. If he is joyous, I am too. He truly is so captivating and so influential, is being a cashier really the right fit for him?? Maybe he should be face of the franchise. Just a maybe š¤·āāļø. If he gets fired, I donāt know the direction of my life anymore. He is just an amazing person and worker, and I hope many more fortunate opportunities for him. If he doesnāt, Iāll be just as happy to see Declan Gaffeny working at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI do Instacart shopping, so I have shopped this store probably 20 times already. Respectfully I find a number of the other reviews to be needlessly picky. First, please donāt shy away from this store because some have complained about the parking garage; clearly these folks have never driven or parked in DC. This place frankly is a garage parkerās dream, nothing hard about it. You drive in, you find an open spot, you park. Itās that easy.
Additionally Iām surprised many have complained about the selection and layout of the store. Naturally this urban setting is not going to offer everything youād find at the Telegraph Rd Wegmanās for example; that place is like a city all to itself, honestly it could probably qualify for its own zip code. The flip side is that you can spend an afternoon canvassing the vastness of other Wegmans stores, so yeah itās a tradeoff and a good one if you ask me. Sure itās condensed, but the good news is itās simple to navigate and very easy to find items once youāve visited a couple of times.
And donāt sweat that some of the staff may seem a bit lost on certain requests; these kids are brand new here, give them a few minutes to get comfortable, theyāre learning the store and their jobs with time, thatās normal. Iāve found what they are temporarily lacking in store knowledge, they more than make up for in eagerness to serve.
For me Wegmans has taken the often ho-hum grocery shopping experience and made it visually far superior, a smorgasbord of beautiful foods and just a lot of fun. If I may say, anyone who is looking for flaws will find a few anywhere, but in a race between good and bad at this new Wegmans, the good wins by a country mile....
