I experienced an extremely inappropriate interaction with a female Costco employee named Jane at the self-checkout area of the Allen, TX location.
During checkout, Jane approached to “assist” but insisted that I place newly purchased white clothing on the visibly dirty and wet side table. When I asked if she could simply scan the items in my cart (as other self-checkout clerks have done before), she became visibly frustrated and did not complete the task. Despite this, she continued standing behind me, insisting that each item be placed on the unclean surface.
The incident escalated when, without warning, Jane grabbed me on the shoulder from behind and said, “Hey, it’s the holidays.” I screamed in shock and told her not to touch me. She then quickly walked away.
This conduct was shocking, unprofessional, and entirely unacceptable. Under no circumstances should an employee ever put their hands on a customer. Physical contact of this nature is a violation of basic boundaries and left me feeling harassed and deeply uncomfortable.
I immediately reported the incident to the on-duty supervisor at customer service. However, I was told only, “Oh, sorry about that, we will speak with the employee.” This dismissive response demonstrated a lack of accountability and failed to address the seriousness of what had occurred. The right course of action would have been to remove Jane from the checkout area immediately and provide me with a proper channel to file a formal report.
Costco prides itself on member service and professionalism, yet this experience demonstrated neither. I strongly urge Costco management to:
Retrain employees, particularly those in customer-facing roles, on professionalism, boundaries, and customer respect.
Implement a clear policy and training emphasizing that employees should never touch customers under any circumstance.
3.Provide customer service supervisors with proper training on handling complaints seriously and respectfully.
I request confirmation that this complaint has been documented and escalated to...
Read moreIf I could make this a negative number I would. This review relates to the experience I had entering the store to check my car in with automotive desk only.
I followed Costco rules and booked my car appointment on line for 10 AM. again following Costco rules they ask that you arrive a few minutes early in order to complete paperwork and maintain their ability to stay on time. Which I did….
At store entrance I walked in scanned my card and was told by Linda that I was not an Executive Member and could not enter the store even to fill out paperwork…I needed to go wait somewhere…. She told me I was 8 minutes early and as I tried to explain the process she kept talking over me. I walked over to the auto desk to wait and fill out paperwork. Linda then sent Alain over to chastise me as if I was a child and told me I could not be there, that I was not an Executive Member and he too would not listen to me..this went on for a few minutes. Joe from the auto department professionally stepped in and told ALAIN it was ok he would take care of the situation. Joe said that conversation that Alain started should never have happened and it went too far.joe apologized multiple times for Alain’s behavior and That I did follow the process. Hats off to Joe for being the professional employee because Alain and Linda were not.
I’m appalled that a Costco member was treated this way. It was apparent that any other membership status was not to be treated as well as an Executive Membership….so much for my being a loyal 20 plus year Costco Member. Actually another customer observed the interaction with Alain and stopped me to encourage me to write the review. They too were shocked by how a customer was treated.
I will be sending a note to the Doug the store manager regarding this situation. These employees need more training or they are just not suited for this type of work. After all I could have been a secret shopper for...
Read moreA FEW DAYS LATER Aug 2025: OK, weekday. Much better day for seasoned citizens to go to any Costco. Just slightly less crowded. This company has got the business for getting customers. Smart stuff. We got all but one item we came for and customer service helped us find that item at other stores. Layout is similar to other stores just not everything is exactly in same place. See photos. Halloween stuff is already out on display. Taking care of customers are important to Costco. At front entrance customer was moving basket of blueberries which came open and scattered portion of contents on ground. Staff noted this and bought out broom/dustpan right away and then industrial floor cleaner. All fixed in 5. Coca-Cola drinks now in food court.1FIRST REVIEW; of just gas station: 32 is smaller than 120 at Buc'ees but still plenty of gas pumps at newest Costco in DFW area. Just opened off of of Sam Rayburn Toll Road (aka Hwy 121). We needed gas so took advantage of this location compared to others in area. Very full parking lot of course on 1st weekend open (8/15/2025). Gas pump open no waiting in line. BTW: other locations have/will open with more pumps soon. We avoid going inside store on weekends as usually very crowded so inside report next week. We have shopped at many different Costco locations so expectations are high for this...
