I booked this hotel for our 1st anniversary get away with our two boys (ages 7 & 11) and our puppy.
*Pictures on the website are very misleading! The pool looks like it is decent sized in the online picture but it is the smallest pool I have ever seen! I have seen pools in backyards bigger than this one! Plus the pool is located in the front parking lot next to the highway and service road with zero privacy. The jets in the hot tub didn't work either. My kids were very disappointed.
*We picked this hotel because they allowed pets and we didn't want to leave our new puppy alone. I was considerate and made sure to pick up behind my puppy when it went potty outside but other guests were not and left it and the hotel didn't seem to mind since they just left all of it too. Pretty gross!
*Our room was tiny and smelled like moldy carpet. The air conditioner around the window soaked the carpet in a complete 3 foot area around it and it made the entire room stink. The carpet in the rest of the hotel were just as bad. The halls, elevator, and even lobby rug were all filthy and stained.
*Our refrigerator didn't work in our room and I had to have it since my son has daily injections that have to stay refrigerated. When I went downstairs to the front desk to let them know, they told me that they didn't have anyone available to try to fix it, they had no other rooms to move us too, and no spare refrigerators. They said I could come down and use the big refrigerator downstairs but I really don't want my son's $2800 medication in a refrigerator that everyone has access to. So I had to leave and drive around 30 minutes trying to find a store, purchase an ice chest, and come back to the hotel to fill it up with ice and keep everything in an ice chest. So much for having a room with a refrigerator, which is one of my must haves in a hotel room!
*The online pictures of the hotel rooms were also misleading. The pictures make the rooms look huge but they are tiny. Also the picture of the desk in the small hallway needs to be removed online. That looks like that little desk area is included in your room but it is really just a picture of the hotel office - check out the door in the picture!
*The only things that were ok in this hotel was the internet and the breakfast (minus the eggshells I ate in my scrambled eggs this morning).
*Once we arrived, I tried calling around to other hotels so I could get a refund and move to a different hotel but they were all booked for labor day weekend.
*This morning when I left to take my puppy potty at 7am, I realized that both our room keys had already been deactivated when checkout was not until 11am. I went back downstairs to the front lobby to let them know and they told me that I must have deactivated both of them by putting them too close to a credit card or cell phone. I told him that they had worked last night before we went to bed and both were sitting on the dresser not next to anything so I guess one of our credit cards or cell phones just magically jumped on top of our room keys and deactivated them while we were sleeping. He was less than amused but I would have liked him to just admit that they accidentally deactivated them early instead of blaming it on me. He reactivated them for me after that conversation.
*They have one elevator in this hotel that is the slowest elevator on earth. It is also very hot and smelly with nasty stained carpet and is super small. We finally just ended up dragging all our luggage and things down the stinky hot stairwell after waiting forever for an elevator to arrive because we couldn't get out of this place fast enough!!
*Worst Hotel and Worst Anniversary Weekend ever! I will never again stay at a La Quinta and would advise you to stay away from this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe travel quite a bit (in fact so much we are part of the La Quinta Returns program and are at the highest level) .. and we stay at La Quinta because they are pet friendly. We booked this room the same day we needed it which was on a Saturday morning and I was told they had 1 room available and the cost was 150- with taxes( even with our AAA discount) because they could ask more for it being it was the last one available ( that's what I was told on the phone).. OUCH ! Unfortunately we were in a position were we had to have a room and a pet friendly place at that. From the outside the motel looks Great !.. However we were extremely disappointed once inside. Hallway carpets were stained and dirty, hallway walls were dirty. .. Elevator is very small .. smallest motel elevator we have been in not to mention filthy. Upon entering our room the first thing that stood out was the huge patch of carpeting that had been cut out and replaced and the seams were fraying .. then a large section of the drywall above the air conditioner was caved in and cracking .. The bathroom was "NOT" clean .....bathroom floors had not been mopped..... went to open the closet to put in a few duffel bags and the floor had not been cleaned there was filth in it so we piled up the duffle's on the floor in the room which was sadly not vacuumed or if it was they need new vacuums because there was debris on the carpeting .. and upon taking a shower the following morning we stood in ankle high water because the water didn't drain properly something that shouldn't be acceptable. On the side of the nightstand there was dried up food that had not been cleaned away .. and our dog kept trying to get in between the bed and the night stand .. revealing there were chunks of food not cleaned up which we ended up doing ourselves. What really got us was when we checked in we were told that breakfast was served from 7 to 10 a.m. we went down at 8:30 a.m. and there wasn't any breakfast left ..we asked when more would be put out and were told that there wouldn't be any more put out that it was all gone and they don't put more out...( Considering the uncleanliness of the motel I suppose their not having any food left was probably in our favor). Even if we had paid a normal rate for the room this La Quinta was the worst we have ever stayed in and we don't stay in fancy places Just somewhere "Clean" .. fairly quiet and somewhere that honors providing you breakfast through the hours that they specify. If I could give this La Quinta in McKinney TX less than 1 star I sure would. I highly recommend trying another nearby motel/hotel that rates higher than this one something I should have thought to check on before making our reservation...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a bad experience with the one of the front desk. I called Friday for my remote TV to be fix and two people came to fix it but it wasnāt successful until they replaced the remote. Next day Saturday, the TV didnāt operate correctly, then I called the front desk. The guy came was so rude because I asked him to check the TV problem. I said to him the TV was working fine but sometimes stop and froze and I couldnāt navigate it with the remote. I told him that I want to watch Netflix and he immediately said we donāt have Netflix in our TVs despite my daughter and I watch watched Netflix for two days in the same TV. Then, he said ok, I will go and bring another remote. It might be from the problem from the remote. He left and never came back or even bother himself. An hour later, I called again because I knew he would be done with his shift and he didnāt want to help anyway. Another guy came and in one second fix the problem and I told him the guy before you didnāt want to help and it was very obvious. The guys said to us, is it the tall white guy, and I said yes and He said AHA. So, in the morning about to check out and it was the same tall white guy. I was in the line with one guy in front of me and the other two white ladies were behind me in the line. Then, he made it very obvious again that he is just racist. He pointed and ask the guy in front of me because he was white and the other two ladies behind me because they were white if they want to check out and totally ignore my presence. But the guy in front off me pointed at me and said to him, she was here first. I felt so bad and I just went to my car and tears and felt so bad that some people work in hospitality industries still have this disgusting perspective as racist. I went back to the front office and I told him that you should treat people equally in this kind of business and you made it so obvious and you think I didnāt realized that he said to me no Iām not and he took my room card and he said to never came back here ever again and I will show you. I donāt know what he will show me??!!! I hope that he will not going to do some wrong in my room and accused me by something or didnāt check me out on time to charge me an extra and I already check it out before the time at 10:44 am. I donāt trust him at all. I have been travel all around states and I have been in 38 states so far but honestly this is my first time experiencing such a thing. Honestly, Iām so sad and Iām wishing this will never happened again. Overall, the service in the hotel is very good and the other people are very nice...
