Moving from over 1,400 miles away can be overwhelming especially in pandemic times. When researching for a self storage unit, Assured Storage of Allen, Texas seem to check all my boxes for storing our priceless belongings. (Old baseball mitt from high school-priceless). Assured met the following requirements. 1) extra security 2). Extra wide drive lanes 3) staff person lives on premises. 4) code entry only gates. 5) wide variety of storage sizes to choose from climate controlled or exterior. 6). easy signup. 7) payment can be accepted on line. 8) units are IMMACULATE which I appreciate 9). Any time we were visiting the property, they would walk out of their office to confirm who we were. 10) Strict maintenance with remediating and managing rodent and pest activity. 11) Won several awards for cleanest - I agree.

What was most welcoming was one of the property managers named Liv. She was professional, accessible, answered all questions and more, accommodating to our unique needs, offered clarity, hands-on approach until we were fully satisfied and she is a lovely person. There were a few hiccups with billing, nothing outrageous. What was appreciated is how Liv corrected and clarified the situation immediately where most companies would not prioritize such a small item. She was happy to show us around. There were other property managers which carried themselves well. Liv created a welcoming atmosphere confirming our long distance decision was the correct decision. If you like being swindled then Public Storage is the place for you. I’ve had a storage unit with this location since March of 2021 when it was formally “Assured Self Storage” then Public storage purchased them. Assured Self Storage was great and I signed up with them at $127 a month, after Public storage purchased them they raised it to $227, zero changes were made and nothing is different. It actually got worse, I only come here a few times a month and I always see the gate left open so anyone can walk in the property, it is supposed to be secure. Now I got another letter from them that next month they are raising it to $275 a month. Do I get anything for this? No. The unit I have is not even climate controlled and they will not be adding that or anything additional, just charge me more for the same thing. You also get ZERO explanation as to why they are increasing it. Just a letter with you new payment on it and a “Thank you”. The monthly increase every year is ridiculous and they can’t even use the additional money to fix things like the gate that is repeatedly stuck open. National rent has increased 26% since 2020, however Public Storage has increased my rates by 116%…it’s a shame it is no longer Assured Self Storage, go anywhere else with your belongings, you will only have a negative experience with this place and whatever your monthly rent will cost is a lie, they will increase it after the fact. First, Ryan Krep is right...Their prices will go up on you every 3-6 months. There is no reason this should even be a thing. People are trying to survive paying a mortgage, rent, car notes, etc. 2ndly, the last thing that should be increasing is your storage space. Ridiculous! Once I move my things out they have lost a long time customer due to this very reason. Also, they will ask for a 5 star the first day. Also, if you are late on payments due to an actual "Life or death bill" they will harass your family even when you just spoke to them regarding payment arrangements a few days prior. 3rd, they need to hire more people. They need to have 2 people always available to help customers and 2 people showing units. There always people outside waiting in Texas heat or in their cars for someone to come and open the door to rent out a space or discuss their account. There is no sign saying they are closed, on lunch or showing a unit. It is 3:30pm! This is absurb! They want to go up on rent, but don't want to provide exceptional customer service. This company no longer needs to buy out other storage companies when they can't handle their own. The only reason why they have a 2 star is because this location is convient with proper air condition. Public storage was a better company...
