I am writing to formally express the lack of transparency and fairness I experienced while preparing and applying for admission to Amarillo College’s Nursing Program. Over the past two years, I have dedicated significant time, effort, and financial resources toward meeting the program’s stated requirements. I rearranged my personal and professional life—including leaving my job—to focus fully on my academic success at Amarillo College. Throughout this time, I maintained strong grades, earning several A’s and no less than a B+ in any class.
However, upon meeting with the new advisor, I was informed that my application would not even be considered unless I had earned an “A” in both Anatomy and Physiology I and II. This standard was never communicated to me at any point during my studies or advising sessions they always told me to keep A’s or B’s . If this was indeed a requirement or a strong admission preference, it should have been clearly stated to all pre-nursing students from the beginning. This experience has left me feeling deceived and disheartened. Amarillo College’s mission emphasizes student success, equity, and integrity. Unfortunately, my experience does not reflect those values. I understand that the staff deals with new students every day but still it was a bit rude and it shouldn't be a reason to be treated that way.
