MY REVISED/UPDATED GOOGLE REVIEW ON: 5/27/25 @ 12:15AM So I bought two (2) items that were separate kits: 1.) Makita Impact Driver, Drill, 2 Batteries & Battery Charger (I was just looking for a charger, but they only sell these in sets or kits). I was expecting the batteries to both work, but turns neither battery works. = $90.00 (w/out tax) + $9.00 (Protection Plan) 2.) Vizio Soundbar & Subwoofer w/ no remote, corner of subwoofer was damaged, but I was told it was all in working condition. = $54.00 (w/out tax) + $5.40 (Protection Plan) TOTAL SPENT + TAX = $171.47
First off, I wasn't aware their "Protection Plan" or extra warranty is for in-store credit only. And if any individual part in a kit or set doesn't work, your only option is to return the entire set. For example, they couldn't just give me two (2) makita 18V, 3.0Ah batteries that worked. The manager Candice (or Candace) said they are only sold it separate sets. She didn't try to help beyond that or act like she cared. Brandon tried to find a comparable set I could swap my set for, but nothing was comparable. The manager finally after 30-40 minutes finds a random 18.0V 2.0Ah battery (less than the two (2) I originally bought from EZPAWN and offers me that. I asked if I could just keep those original batteries, but she said NO that it's my replacement or swap out that fulfills the Protection Plan I bought. And after I started asking more questions she cut me off and told me "How about I just give you store credit and you give me the Makita set you originally bought and you can happily go to a different EZPAWN location." She was offended that I was upset and cursed to myself as I walked out the door. I did apologize to her for cursing, but it was not aimed at anybody. I was hoping and expecting a manager (like Mike who was originally involved when I bought these sets) who could take initiative and help me. She obviously found a battery in the back and could have likely found another one to swap the two (2) that came with the original set.
So now do my option with the soundbar and subwoofer is to just keep it or swap it out and hope the swapped out set works or just get store credit (less the protection plan). The point of my review is simply this: If I am 2/2 with buying something from EZPAWN (one tool kit and one sound system kit), and both of them had something that was broken or didn't work at all, then what are the odds that there will be something wrong with anything they are selling.... I would be willing to bet I'm not the first person to have issues like this and doesn't make me want to buy ANYTHING else from an EZPAWN ever again. Brandon was great and even Miguel who was working today was cool. Her attitude and lack of care explains it all. Why was she also the only one without a name tag? So do my Protection Plans even show up under my ID yet like she told me it should? Do I not have a Protection Plan for the tool set anymore because I settled for giving up two (2) batteries that don't work or won't charge for one (1) replacement battery that's almost half in size, capacity and cost? ....
I didn't bring the soundbar and subwoofer in because I didn't think about taking it with me to work so I could everything advised before my "warranty" or "Protection Plan" ran out. I took videos of the subwoofer and it's definitely blown. Two (2) of the four (4) screws that held the subwoofer into the box weren't even screwed in all the way.
Do yourself a favor and do NOT buy tools here. You're asking for trouble. I wouldn't buy anything here unless you can find a manager with authority who is willing to truly help and cares about their customers getting what they were sold and expecting. Candice (or Candace, however you spell it), please just DO BETTER, BE BETTER! You probably shouldn't be a manager, but I'm guessing you've been there the longest and was the most sensible one for a promotion. But who knows, who cares. All I know is this store is NOT 5/5 star review worthy.
