Fareway Meat Market — Local services in Ames

So this happened yesterday, and I was going to let it go, but it has been bugging me all morning so here it is. This store has bad service. I walked in yesterday and thought I would get some sushi since I had heard it was good, but I came too late and the selection was gone, that's fine, its first come first served, right?

Well, I then saw a soda that I hadn't had in a long time, and got real excited, and picked two out of the cooler, and headed towards check out. No one was at the check out or anywhere outside of the meat counter, which I hadn't noticed until I was standing at self check out. Well nothing scanned, and I tried both self check outs. I then hit the help button on the check out, and turned to try and get the attention of the people behind the meat counter. I was very surprised that they looked like they were actively trying to ignore me, the only customer in the store. This is when I noticed I hadn't even been acknowledged the entire time I was in the store, and probably have won the Buckle challenge here...

I ended up getting no help, and decided that it wasn't worth my time, and left. There was so many places that this just felt off and I couldn't tell if it was the staff, the way they have been told to operate, or if it is just how Fareway likes to have things happen. Given that I have never gotten good customer service from any Fareway, I am guessing this is just the company, and that its just not a place for me in the future.
