ALDI — Local services in Amite City

Went to Aldi for the first time in my life because it's new in Amite, LA. First of all, I guess the theme for this store is disorganization. I feel like I'm shopping at a low-budget bargain barn. I'm very disappointed. I even had a discussion with an elderly couple. They couldn't find their way around the store because it didn't make any sense.

So I bought a few things to test the quality. I found salmon, which we eat in my household at least 3 times a week. On this salmon package, it said "never frozen," which is normal, but this salmon was completely frozen in the store. Let it thaw and cooked it up for dinner. It didn't cook the same, and the texture and flavor were wrong. But testing my wife, who loves salmon, immediately noticed there is something wrong with the salmon. So, as I always do, I gave some to my dogs, and they smelled it, dropped it on the floor, and walked away. I had some other sides with my meal from Aldi, and my conclusion is I will not shop there again. And I can't see this store bringing good revenue to the town. Winn Dixie should have been ran better and remodeled, and then it could have been better than this. VERY DISAPPOINTED BRING BACK WINN DIXIE. ALDI IS...

First time at Aldi, it's grand opening in Amite La.

The store set up is weird and disorganized. I guess that is the theme for this store.

Since they took out the actual grocery chain store winn dixie, I had to see what the trade was. I have to say I am very disappointed.

My main problem is the quality for staples like Meat. We picked up 2 nights of dinner meals from our first trip. SALMON AND PORK CHOPS.

We have salmon 2 or 3 nights a week generally, and there salmon says never frozen as it is at other stores we purchased from in the past (except Aldi was frozen) made me chuckle not a big deal. The problem was the texture and the flavor was wrong, and not good, my dogs who usually love their few pieces we share dropped it on the floor and left to their beds and didn't want anything to do with it. (If you can't get a dog to eat it)

2nd night, we tried the pork chops. It smelled really bad, you can't get past the smell of Boar Taint. You can't enjoy pork chops that smell like Boar taint. It's the worst.

Sadly, I will not be shopping at Aldi. No reason...

The new Aldi's in Amite is great! I did not go to the grand opening, but I did go the day after and another tone after that. My husband and I always stock up on their meats! The only meats we don't like are the preseason ones, those never taste good to us, of course we're Louisiana Cajuns so we like to season our own meat and with our own spices. The store is very well organized and the workers are nice and work fast. It's never a long wait in line at all. There's so many options to choose from, even protein options! Absolutely love the jalapeño cheddar protein balls, they are my absolute favorite find so far! We love Aldis and this is an awesome location! We can't...
