The good: prices are low and they have belts of a LOT of different sizes.
The ok: There was no notice until I placed belts in my cart that there are minimum orders on the belt sizes I use. They have to be cut down from larger belts, so it's reasonable, but it would have been nice if that was mentioned somewhere on the order page.
The bad: Their communication is TERRIBLE and screwed me over because of it. No one told me that some of my belts were waiting on production when I placed my order until a week later when I emailed to find the status of my order. Two days later I was told that my order had shipped out (over a week late at this point). Today, at two week late, I get an email that my order shipped and a tracking number. I called to try to cancel the order but was told that, since it was picked up today, I can only get a discount on a future order. Yeah....that's not going to work because I don't want to give them any more of my money. They hosed me at an extremely busy time of year and my only recourse is to return the order when it arrives, paying the shipping myself, or give them MORE money so I can use a discount.
I strongly recommend looking for other sources for abrasives before buying from either Maverick or Combat Abrasives. Learn...
Read moreI ordered 3" x 18" 36-grit ceramic sanding belts from Maverick Abrasives for use on a Rigid belt sander while rebuilding a fiberglass boat. Within 2â3 minutes of use, the belt seams began separating, creating a large hump that caused violent thumping and even wore through the underside of my sander, exposing the motor. Two of six belts broke outright; the rest became unusable within 6â10 minutes. This was not my first time using sanding beltsâother brands (like Diablo) ran smoothly and lasted far longer.
When I contacted Maverick to provide detailed feedback, their response dismissed the issue, claiming their belts âdo not warpâ and that any bump was âslightâ and unavoidable. My experience was the opposite: the seams were extremely weak, and the belts damaged my tool. I still have most of the belts unused because I wonât risk ruining another sander.
Based on my experience with both the product and customer service, I would not recommend Maverick Abrasives nor will I purchase any products...
Read moreThe product itself is pretty good quality, but the quality control of this company seems to be lacking significantly. 2 of the 4 rolls of sandpaper I ordered were wide than the 3" they were supposed to be. It may seem like a small difference, but you can't trace the taper on the existing paper coming off the sander, and the difference of 1/8" 7 times around the drum sander means the taper has to be adjusted drastically. It's an inconvenience, but not the end of the world. The other half of the low rating is the non-professionalism of one of the managers, Garrett. He is more than happy to be kind when it comes to acquiring a new customer, but when it comes to dealing with customer satisfaction due to poor quality control, his attitude changes drastically. It's just a shame the professionalism doesn't continue through the entire...
