I originally had an amazing experience with Heather at Anderson EZ Pawn, they had a loyal customer in me. Unfortunately, this past Sunday (Father's Day), we got stranded in Anderson and live 40 minutes away and needed to get home. We rushed there hoping to get a loan on a purchase I had just made earlier that week ($360). I was literally willing to accept $20, desperate to get home.Heather was really excited to close I guess. She was rude when he walked and not so professionally told him to kick rocks. I then went in very kindly and apologizing for anything that just happened and asked her to please help me get home - I will take $10-15 for everything I just purchased a few days ago so I could get home and I would come back to pay for the loan in a couple days. She rudely told me that she will NOT be willing to help me, even as I begged and said I have a great customer file that I come to them for everything, purchasing and loans. She and the other workers were ganged up I guess expecting me to get aggressive idk,and told me "she already told my husband they are passing on my items and to leave because they are closing. I again apologize for any issues they perceived my husband caused trying to explain we rushed there desperate to get help with getting home. When I had tears in my eyes and begging for her to please help me, that I just spent $360 buying the items a few days prior and I was willing to take anything ,literally $10 to get home, she then said they are now refusing because I've made it an ownership issue;due to my husband said the items were his. Of course he did - WE'RE MARRIED, everything we own is both of our property. I realized she didn't care about my problems, rightly so, my emergency isn't her issue, but I've been a loyal customer with them for years. They also told my husband they wouldn't buy or loan on the ring set , THAT I JUST PURCHASED FROM THEM 3 DAYS PRIOR, because "they don't deal with silver!" Again, I JUST bought the SILVER and diamond set from them. I chose that set from a display case of ALL silver jewelry. Soo?? I don't care for yellow gold and I can't tell the difference between silver and white gold - well, I don't care enough about the difference to pay for white gold over silver. They lost a loyal customer on Sunday. A little understanding and compassion go a long way in customer facing roles. I've personally worked customer service for over 15 years. I can't imagine how I would keep my job treating customers like that. I'm a firm believer in buying 2nd hand items, all my life because not only is the mark-up ridiculous in a jewelry (or any store) but items bring new life and memories to a new person. We have enough waste in this world, unfortunately some of EZ Pawn's employees are part of that waste (of space.) I'm sure they deal with all types of people, but I'm just a 40 years old mom and wife they grouped up like they expected a rumble! Lol. I am too old and even look too old to be coming up all aggressive to employees of a store just trying to make a living. I don't know what/how the manager and owners think, but I would want every potential customer, ESPECIALLY repeat customers treated with the most basic of decency. The top half of my review was literally asked of me by Heather to help her keep her job and I was happy to do so because I appreciate being treated like a person. After this past Sunday, I will NEVER return to this place, I won't even enter an EZ Pawn in a different town/state. I've never been treated so rudely for absolutely no reason other than this person wanted to go home. I get that and under normal circumstances, I wouldn't be Soo rude as to show up expecting service right before closing hours - but I legitimately had an emergency that day and was desperate. So, not only was I distressed and embarrassed, I was apologetic and kind. I was treated the complete opposite of that and I just wanted to update my review to give others my humble opinion and perhaps management will give employees updated training to keep customers instead of...
Read moreEzPawn isn't like what you'll see on T.V, where people bring in whatever and are offered insane prices for their valuables. There is a time and place for most items, and what people may consider 'valuable' is not valuable in terms of marketing. A lot of complaints I've seen from the various reviews are that people are not getting what they view as a 'fair price' for their goods. I can tell you right now, if it doesn't work 100% correctly, if you aren't the kind of person that gets your loans back on time, or if the item is older, expect less. Simple as that.
If I worked as a Pawnbroker, and you offered me a 32 inch LCD T.V and wanted $100 for it, I'd tell you you're nuts. You might have paid over $300-$400 for it over 8 years ago, but in today's society, a LCD T.V is obsolete, and there'd be no way I'd be able to sell it for even $100. Who wants an 8 year old LCD T.V with your child's smudgy finger prints or a broken button on it, sold to them for $100? Not me!
Being a PawnBroker also means taking huge risks with items that might not be 100% functional, or seem functional, but have an internal problem they're not able to spot immediately. These people don't live with your products or use them on a daily basis. A construction worker might be able to tell when a Drill is nearing end of life, but a Pawnbroker might not be able to, merely for the fact they may inventory them on a daily, but not use them to the point of fresh out of the box to end-of-life and understand the mechanics or failures of a dying drill. (Or anything else for that matter, unless horribly obvious, such as a broken screen, or visible scratches / damages.)
Testing items take time, being impatient only makes the workers more frustrated with the customer, and treating them poorly will also (Guess what?) net you less money. Being respectful, patient, and understanding goes a long way when at...
