I did not want to write a review, however After 7 email attempts to solve my issues, Not one returned email nor phone call I felt this was best.
Iâve been going here for years.
My emergency visit was with Dr Turner. When we asked her specific questions about My dog we are asked by her âare you a vet? Are you a vet techâ? I find this very rude now but makes sense because she actually didnât answer the question correctly anyways.
My dog had âGI issuesâ and when I made the comment that people also get this she replied with âpeople can not get thisâ, that would be grossâ I find this odd that I had to remind a doctor that in fact yes, humans get gastroenteritis. Itâs quite common actually, and also scary that she didnât know that.
When I told the dr the food I fed my dog (raw food) she was BEYOND quick to judge and made the remark âI wouldnât eat that so I would never feed that to my dogâ. Another thing I find funny because would she eat kibble??? Would I get that same response had I said he ate kibble?
When talking to us she was standing between the two rooms in between the door to walk out as if we were a bother. Now I understand this is a busy office but Thatâs a bit rude especially when I am leaving my sick dog in her hands.
I was also told from a few sources that the dr I went to was known for treating cats and not so much dogs. If thatâs the case, I wish someone would have told me that to begin with.
I left my dog overnight as she highly recommend because his blood work showed Dehydration and his illness
I felt rushed and didnt get ANY answers. I literally paid for nothing. When They called and I asked about picking up my dog and what my âpayment optionâ was â meaning âform of paymentâ I was quickly told âWELL YOU HAVE TO PAY BEFORE YOU CAN GET HIMâ
1st of allâ that wasnât what I asked 2nd of all â clearly payment was all anyone cares about. 3rd of all â I paid $1,000 for no cure. No help. No relief. He left there the same way he came in
He was also covered in his own feces that after him being stressed enough I had to get him home and right into the bath (which is stressful for a dog who hates water)
When asked for what his diseases is from or caused by I had no answer. Both the doctor and vet tech remind me many times âit could be anythingâ.
How is this even logical? How does the same doctor who was rude enough to ask me âare you a vetâ after I asked her some questions, even have the nerve to ask such a question yet she canât even answer whatâs wrong with my dog??
My dog left here worse than when I brought him in. I asked for his records and when I saw his bloodwork for myself I was shocked. The Dr didnât tell me his blood levels were LITERALLY off the chart. The phone call she made to me was âoh itâs a little elevated but nothing of concernâ REALLY??? The range for one test should be between 59-895 and his were 1821! No concern???
After speaking to a few other people I was told they feel the same way as well with this office. Leaving disappointed and a hole in their wallet.
Not to mention in the past I was told my dog needed his shots when in fact they were already done. They were âmissingâ on their end but luckily I had my copy (on paper AND email FROM their office) or he would have been over vaccinated.
I brought my dog there for an emenergcy and left him there thinking he was in good hands. Iâm beyond annoyed, aggravated and disappointed more than anything
After another $500 with another office, my dog is now feeling better after being treated for his disease which should have been handled at andover animal hospital in the first place.
I will note, I always loved Dr Hummel and Dr Parker. I have never had an issue with them. I do also notice when I bring my dog there, the staff is always changing. I think that...
Read moreI have been a longstanding client at AAH. My mother, at the suggestion of my grandfather, took my cat there when I was a child. Dr. Perona was still there at the time. My mom had previously taken the cat elsewhere, but the cat wasnât getting better. I recalled Dr. Perona saying, âYou should have brought her here first. I could have saved her. She has leukemia, but thereâs nothing I can do now.â My mother took our animals there exclusively, and I followed suit. Iâve taken pets, with my mother and as an adult, there for 50 years.
Last year, my dog was diagnosed with Anaplasmosis, was given antibiotics and sent home. I was told he would feel better within a week. As the week progressed, he was not getting better. In fact, he was getting worse. I called the vet numerous times to inquire about his lack of progress, but instead of her calling me back and talking to me directly, she had a vet tech call to relay the message of âjust give it timeâ. Eventually, he was put on another medication to encourage him to eat, but he only grew worse, to the point he was urinating all over himself and was incapable of walking. Still, I called the vet and got the same response. It wasnât long after that I had no choice but to take him somewhere else. He was put to sleep that day due to acute kidney failure.
The office was once the only place in the world that I would take my pets. I adored Dr. Hummel, and was sorry to see him go. He used to call me on his lunch to see how my pets were doing when they were ill. Fluffers became blind twice, and he managed to heal him. This, in and by itself, was a miracle. We truly lost a treasure when he retired.
But the vet that attempted to âcareâ for my dog lacked a bedside manner, compassion and care. She should have called me, I feel, and spoken with me. Maybe asked me some pointed questions about his behavior or even said, âYou know, maybe you should bring him in again.â But no, I got a vet tech who kept telling me he was going to be okay, to give him time.
Well, Fluffers doesnât have âtimeâ anymore. He hasnât for almost a year. I will never set foot inside of that office again â not due to the tech staff, who are wonderful, but due to the lack of care for my dog.
Itâs taken me a year to write this review, and as a one-time dedicated client, it pains me to do so. But not as painful as...
Read moreWe have been going to Andover Animal Hospital for several years. Our most recent experience has us never going back and urging others not to as well. Our cat started vomiting over the weekend. We brought him there on Tuesday. We had a 3:30 appointment. We did not see a doctor until 4:15 as I was told the doctor was assisting other âclientsâ. Through an x-ray, it was determined that he had a blockage that would likely require surgery. We were told that an ultrasound would need to be performed to confirm, but it could not be done until the next day because the tech wasnât there. We were also told that they could not perform the surgery because they were booked Wednesday and Thursday and donât do surgeries on Friday. He could not wait that long. They referred us to another veterinarian 45 minutes away at an estimated cost of $7,000 to $10,000. We ended up agreeing to leave him at Andover for fluids and to be monitored overnight at a cost of $1,796 to $3,518. They ran my credit card for $1,759. After we left, I contacted the nonprofit we adopted him from. They advised me to pick him up and take him to another veterinarian 25 minutes away. At 6:15, Andover had already closed. I called and called and called and finally went there. They did finally pick up the phone advising me to text next time. I picked him up and brought him to the other veterinarian. Andover refunded me the difference but still charged me an additional $69.25 for an I.V. catheterization that was never used and had to be removed. In total, it cost me $498.25 for Andover to do absolutely nothing. The other veterinarian, who we have never used, charged us $4,300 for everything including keeping him for 3 days. There are so many things that Andover did wrong in this situation. Running 45 minutes late and not contacting me was the first thing. Not prioritizing my pet in the surgery rotation when he had an emergency was the next. Referring me to another veterinarian who was double the cost of other options was the next. I am furious about the additional charge of $69.25. Andover has clearly fallen victim to the venture capital money that many other practices have also had. Profit is now the number one concern. I could tell immediately from the robotic language used by the tech as she made me wait. We will never go back and will be leaving this review all over...
