The Positives: THE STORE & OFFERINGS pretty and unique store front (looks like a barn, feautures beautiful seasonal plants/trees/pumpkins/corn and has a greenhouse) wide variety of offerings in all departments a lot of fun and interesting products - it does make the shopping fun (there are quite a few local products as well) good taste in music playing in the background that gives the place character and makes you feel like youāre in an independently owned store clean and accessible bathroom located at the main entrance are fun local magazines, Greenlife Market discount circulars and to-go recycled plastic-wear and napkins for deli food, which is helpful if youāve gotta eat in the car while being out and about
The Negatives: ALL CUSTOMER SERVICE I feel like teens run this place. It used to be hit and miss with decent attitudes but I am noticing better attitudes lately from nearly everyone. A marked improvement. *NO ONE and I mean NO ONE at checkout offers to help you bag your items, especially when you have A LOT (I.e., 2-7 large, full bags). Too many times, Iāve experienced a long line behind me of people waiting to step up and get checked out, and Iāve finished paying⦠and the cashiers just stand and watch me bagging without any offer of help, so I donāt feel like theyāre waiting on me, and/or they chat and joke with their coworkers. This is IRRITATING. I hate even approaching the checkout line every time Iām here (also because Iām still a little uneasy about the attitudes here, but I like shopping in the store). Even ShopRite checkout workers OFFER to help you bag up your items. *Please management - train your cashiers to help with bagging or offer to help with bagging. This can help speed up the checkout line, too. the deli could use 1-2 more people per shift most days - I always wait here longer than other delis at all other grocery stores and feel uneasy if anyoneās going to notice me. I usually have to politely call out to someone, and then I still...
Read moreWell, I don't live over there, but we were in the area because of a visit to the DMV and this was a good way to make an errand into a delightful visit. This place is totally organic! It's like Whole Foods before it turned away from a lot of organic stuff. It has an outdoor area for anything that your garden would need and an indoor juice bar and café. I got a juice there and it was really worth it. I think that I only paid about $6. They also have a department for medicinal stuff that I didn't look at thoroughly, but that's definitely a big bonus that most organic markets don't have.
I spoke to a woman named Karen there and she really gave me a lot of background about this place. They are family owned and opening other markets currently. She showed my wife and I around and even got us samples of honey roasted peanut butter that they make on sight. It was a really good experience. She went beyond what I could have expected from a staff member there. She told me that they offer memberships that get you cheaper prices and that the memberships are a one time fee of $99. Although this next part was unbelievable, she said that it just gets paid once. No expiration? I would double check that.
Anyway, my wife and I got nearly all of the groceries that we needed without membership because they had so many sale items. We ended up spending about $80 less than we usually spend at other similar markets that aren't totally organic and they don't provide some of the great stuff that this one does (garden stuff, medicine). So, I would recommend this place to anyone who loves organic stuff, fresh juices or wraps, the outdoors and gardening stuff. It's great for fitness folks and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have to be honest, this is one of the most well organized health food and garden stores I've ever seen. The young women working there walk out to you and are super nice. Where the whole concept goes wrong is, is at their food counter. The counter people are not knowledgable at all about vegan / vegetarian healthy eating.
First, I was offered samples of products, like smoothies. I asked what was in them. I'm a vegan. No one behind the counter had a clue. Well then, who made them? Then I ordered a vegetarian sandwich on what the young blonde counter boy said was a vegan roll. When I got back to work, I unwrapped it, it was two slices of regular bread and the 'so-called' vegan sandwich was drizzled with a topping of cheese .. huh.
Will I go back there? Yes, as I said, it's a super organized store and the only one I've come across in the state of NJ with such a wide and varied selection. Nice furnishing, again, the young women are incredibly, super helpful, super friendly and affable. The counter help in the back, maybe they should look for a job at Wendy's. I'm serious....
