I had an appointment at this location today. The doctor had it set up to be a nurse visit only since he wanted to monitor my A1C while on a new drug. I showed up for my appointment on time, left work early giving up income, and My doctor's nurse would not what the Doctor needed done.
I was told that since it was an A1C that shoe could not do it it without a doctor appointment. DO the doctor and the nurses communicate?? And if it was the case that this appointment with the nurse was not to be, then why was it allowed to be scheduled in the first place.
To make the situation worse I felt that the receptionist made me feel that this was all my fault! I did not make up the appointment, It was ordered by the doctor.
The same nurse in the past has made me wait almost 45 minutes after my appointment so she could learn new equipment delivered to the office. She did this on my time. I was scheduled and she decided she had to do that and make me wait. In the last appointment I had, she was supposed to call in a new supply of test strips to my pharmacy. This was not done even though she assured me that it was done.
I am coming out of this situation confused. I like my doctor but I do not have faith in his nurse any longer or the reception I got at...
Read moreWe are so blessed to have IC UC here in Ankeny! Sure, we aren’t usually feeling well when we have to go there, but it’s very reassuring tge providers there are do knowledgeable, practice current Evidence Based Medicine, and I always feel better after I visit. Start your visit upfront when you check in with Alley and Chrissy and they will both make you feel better right away. Yes, we are all busy and so are they, so just remember they are trying their best to help and please, always remember to thank them for helping you feel better ❤️🙏
DR. OTIS- I have been going to UC for many years and am pleased with their team of knowledge providers. I try to see Dr. Otis as he routinely partners with my PCP next door Dr. Nicholson and the two provide me quick and thorough care at this location. Dr. Otis is VERY knowledgeable and experiencing evidence based practices and he is very inclusive in letting me provide feedback in my care to pursue new methods...
Read moreWe brought our daughter in on Saturday morning. She had RSV and we were concerned with her breathing. I set up an appointment at 8:36. It became 8:40 and a bunch of people had been called in front of me. I went to the front desk and asked and they said seven, 7, people were scheduled before me. A little back story, they opened at 8. I was the third person in line as well having a reservation. That is terrible scheduling if you have 7 people in line from 8 to 8:40. No way a doctor is going to see a patient for only five minutes. Let alone when I got into a room it didn’t seem like they cared about my daughter. They said we will give her a steroid antibiotic which is great BUT the nurse came and was going to have me give it to her! What? She’s the nurse, she should be giving it to her. Let’s just say I won’t be going back to the Ankeny location. Very poor communication and they...
