I don't do reviews often. However, I used to. That's just to let you know it takes A BIG DEAL for me to come out of retirement to do this. And MOZZIE FOX SALON IS that BIG DEAL ... far and away ! (They haven't been "BEST IN THE VALLEY " for nothin'!) My story: After "wandering in the desert" for 1-2yrs looking for a salon, I'd about given up. I was simply looking for a stylist / salon who knew their stuff but didn't ask me to pay for their overdone, overpriced venues in tony zip codes. But after spending hundreds of dollars and hours in frustration, I finally resigned myself to my box of "Lady Clarol" like back in the day. Then, in a quite serendipitous situation - the purchase of our first home in AZ - put us within walking distance of this DIAMOND IN THE DESERT. I have lived everywhere, and because of my profession, I've had my hair done by some of the top people in the industry from all-over. And in my (humble) frame of reference, LAURIE (& her hand selected & trained staff) has impressed me FROM THE START. She is not only THE BEST STYLIST and SALON DIRECTOR but TREMENDOUS HUMAN BEING with more HUMILITY, BRILLIANCE, and TENDERNESS of both HEART & SPIRIT that I have encountered in almost ANY business field ~ FEMALE OWNED, SMALL BUSINESS or otherwise. I won't go into her behind-the-scenes heart-of-gold work she does in secret upon hearing a need, but it's a hallmark of not only a business but a life well lived. She and her team display a wealth of knowledge that extends far beyond their years; that rare combination of chemist, artist, tough love (as to what REALLY IS NEEDED/RIGHT for a client regardless of what they might think they want and will say so) and best girlfriend at the ready with tea, hand massage and tissues. Their pricing is on the lower end of competitive for the services rendered, and I think far less than what they are worth. The gifts of knowledge, skill and TOUCH ( simply in having your hair washed) are priceless but well below what I feel they could & should be charging. But Laurie is a savvy business owner who invests wisely in her client's comfort while offering the EXCELLENT product lines used in your services at terrific rates and never ever pushing any outside product for her own gain. It's a rarity - at least in my experience during my time in AZ - which requires a pre-consultantation before anything is done, so there are no surprises in price or service. PLUS a "WE'LL GET THIS RIGHT" MONEY BACK GUARANTEE, so no more crying after the beauty parlor! (You know what I mean ... ) I can attest to the validity of this promise when a color choice I made reminded my husband of my mother's photo. I was on the phone in moments of arriving home. Laurie didn't even flinch, and within 24 hrs, I was in a color I never knew imaginable, and my husband was off-the-hook-delighted. My sister went in to get her hair dyed more blonde. Our appointment started at 11:45. We thought we would only be there for a couple hours, but we ended up staying there for 5 HOURS. She asked for her hair to be honey blonde, and it ended up coming out as grey grandma hair mixed with purple streaks. The lady didn't talk to her. When she was washing her hair she was digging into her scalp and pushing her neck down. My sister was pinching her skin to distract herself from the pain that was going on, on her head/neck. The stylist asked if she wanted layers, my sister replied no, but the stylist proceeded to give her layers anyways. Last while she was getting her hair blow dryed the lady said that she would cut her hair after then be done. My sister said that's okay I don't want my hair cut, you don't need to do that. She looked at my sister and said, "oh no you need your hair cut." She then cut her hair uneven and charged her $40 for a haircut she didn't even want. I visited here for the 1st time and so pleased with my results. Everyone there is very friendly and take great care of you from the moment you walk in the door. I love that the have you come in for a consultation before scheduling an appt. It's a great way to spend time beforehand and for your stylist to get to know you and help you decide what you want and what will work best for you. Jamie was my stylist and she really nailed it with my hair. I rarely walk out of the salon completely happy with my hair. I was extremely happy!
