Weis Markets — Local services in Arbutus

While in line yesterday I realized I forgot to get bagels. Once I paid for my items i headed back into the store to the bread aisle and grabbed my bagels. Once I got my bagels and a case of waters I headed to selfcheck out. When I arrived at the register at self check out. I was approached by a woman saying she was the manager and needed to see my receipt. When I asked, what the issue was, she pointed to her badge, stated that she was the manager, and because I went back into the store with my bagged item she needed to look thru them. I told her that that sounded crazy and that I've bever had my bags searched at the market before (I'm peri-menapausal I forget things all the time). I pointed out the fact that I was in line and theives don't generally get in line to pay. She insisted on seeing my receipt and to try and stop the spectacle i felt was about to happen, I gave it to her. As she grabbed my bags, the realization that she was going to dig her DIRTY STRANGER'S hands thru MY items, the items that I had already PAID for, the items that belonged to me down to the paper bags made me cringe. I asked her would she be digging her dirty nasty hands thru my food items? She smiled widely, and gleefully said," I sure am!!!!" I stood there helpless, confused and my anger was growing by the second. She seemed to enjoy having all of the control After she finished humilating me in front of everyone, she handed my receipt back and walked off grinning all pleased with herself. What was she looking for? She surely didn't find anything. I am no theif. I wasn't offered any further explanation nor any form of apology. I asked her to give me a refund, she gleefully called someone else to oblige me. Unfortunately my mom has cancer and is sick with a virus, I am her caregiver and didn't have time to drive up the road to reshop my food items at Giants, I needed to get back home. So I had to bite the bullet more like leave with my tail tucked. It disgust me that I paid to be voilated!!! What policy was she following? I've never ever ever been searched at the market before. I was extremely unpleasant? The market is filled with cameras. You mean to tell me that as the manager she has no access to the camera? Why couldn't she check the camera's before she went all top flight...

Around noon today my Grandmother got very sick. The managers and workers all were very helpful, we were able to walk her to the bench, get a bag for her to throw up in, and one even bought her a ginger ale to settle her stomach after. I wanted to thank them in particular first off to whoever receives this.

The cashier working directly in front of the bench we were helped on, however, was worrysome. I had told the workers who helped that my grandma was ok, thanked them, and they had left us to help others. at which time I noticed the cashier from the lane my uncle was waiting in to pay. I believe she was high on something, as my uncle's checkout took longer normal. The cashier stopped mid check out of a different customer as well to "take a photo of me and my grandmother bc we were precious" on her own personal cell phone, not mine (which I uncomfortably offered not knowing how to approach that situation). When it came time for my uncle to pay, we had finished entering pin on the keypad and she was clicking buttons for about 3 minutes with no success in completing the transaction, at which point I told her how I paid and that there was probably a electronic payment button she needed to press. she was slow in movement and slurred in speech the whole time, and had I not needed to take my Grandmother home right then I would have asked the manager right then.

I couldn't not get a confirmation from the Feedback form, and am willing to edit this review to remove the cashier part if I am directed to the proper way to have reported the unfortunate part of...

hit or a miss when seeking in and out service, other than that fully stocked always clean, extremely respectable and helpful staff. Just like a local grocery store should be. Plus, if your able to indulge, sorry if not look away. They have some of the best bakery items and items that cater to all kinds of holidays and even sour cream cookies which I have not seen anywhere, don't go just for them though cause they sometimes arent in stock from high demand. In fact one consumer that is my twin(i don't have one) likes to stock up on the sour cream cookies. However, there's plenty other treats to go around LOL! Basically, from meat department to seafood to lunch meat and stockers and cashiers. Their always smiling and eager to please . If you as I, only attempt at juggling. Is when you enter a store. Cause in such a hurry that, walkin back getting a cart would just be one second too much. Don't worry they watch carefully for our kind and offer to help you with a cart or basket lol!!!!!!! Too, all my awesome girls up front , including my lady in customer service (counts money faster than anyone in the east lol),they stuck through covid times ,shortages and have continued to remain for years, Always and forever helpful and smiling.
