Dandar's Boardgames and Books — Local services in Arcata

It's great! The content of the store is fairly unique (My wife loves tarot and journals, I love boardgames!) and the owners are delightful! I've purchased a used game, a new game, a tarot set, a whole series of manga, and a couple books so far. There's always something tempting when we go in. I even accidentally purchased the wrong volume of a graphic novel and they swapped it for the correct one as soon as I called. Boardgame prices are also very reasonable and competitive with online prices, which is a HUGE incentive to buy local compared to paying 2-3x what you can find it for online, which is usually how it works with local game stores. And they buy and sell used games, which is a first for Humboldt!

Overall, awesome store that I recommend for game lovers as well as anyone interested...

This store has a great selection of board games, books, dice, miniatures, card game accessories, and paints! I go here at least once every couple months to pick up something for one of my nerdy hobbies.

The owner is super friendly, and is always happy to answer questions. The prices are nice and reasonable. I find myself wishing that, alongside packs of cards and accessories for the game, the store would sell magic the gathering singles. It would be cool to have somewhere in Arcata that caters to the mtg community here, since otherwise the closest place...

My son ordered books from here in May. He was told he would get a call when they came in. We happened to be there a couple of weeks later so he checked to see if they were in. The owner I believe, told him that they had been back ordered but now they were available and would be in in a week and a half. That was the first week of June. We called to see if they were in the end of June and he said no. We went and bought them somewhere else. That is a really disappointing way to run a small business that I am assuming counts on...
