I used to love this place when I started eating here, the food quality is good if you are dining in. If I were to order pick up every time the employee would say it’ll be ready in 10 minutes. Which would be true 4 of 5 times other than that I would find myself showing up in 10 and waiting 30+ minutes just for a simple out and about burger. The menu is most definitely overpriced especially for a “deli”. I recently encountered a very unpleasant experience when ordered out my usual out and about burger. It was cold and soggy. All I wanted was a replacement burger before they closed preferably or a simple refund. The manager was very quick to place the blame on me and was telling me how I should order in the future to avoid this. He was also very rude and took a tone with me and didn’t offer an apology, refund or, a new burger. When my boyfriend picked up the order they were very short and disregarded him to take other orders because his card wasn’t running. I will add that they did courteously gave me free ranch. Once it got through they didn’t have him sign or give him a copy of the receipt until he was walking out and the counter person chased him down “saying you forgot to sign” when he was never asked to or even offered a receipt. When we went back to get a refund because I didn’t eat the burger and didn’t want a new one since I was treated with such disrespect. The employees knew we were returning and the same manger instantly tried to repeat and tell me how I should have ordered, had an attitude and a very rude tone. Starting his sentences with “first of all” he seemed belligerent or under the influence of alcohol(unless that’s his personality). We got our refund after he argued with my boyfriend and his friend and I asked multiple times for him to just give us the refund. Once again we got no receipt and a very sarcastic “have a great night!” We we’re walking out the door he proceeds to gossip about us while we can still hear him. My boyfriend lets him know we can hear him. As we are across the street the manager comes and yells after us that if we have anything to say we can come say it and goes back in before we can even say anything. So then again my boyfriend is arguing with the other counter person (who followed him out) and the manager proceeds to run back outside and tell us that we are no longer welcome at Arcata Pizza Deli. I would like to add that the cook who was very nice and not involved apologized and told us to contact the owner. I went in the next day to try and talk to another manager all she did was defend the other manager and tell us that he hadn’t done any of the following us out the door and yelling. She also said we were harassing him and how he’s the most sweetest, nicest, caring person. She refused to give me the owners info and my refund still hasn’t gone through. Overall the management there is rude and inconsiderate. They don’t seem to care about how they...
Read moreWent with a friend who's been out of town, we were looking forward to some good eats after Slice of Humboldt (so good). Both of us got single slices from their standard list of pizzas on the wall, and a large garlic fry. Fries were OK, just ordinary string fries with minced garlic on sprinkled top, seemed like freezer fries but decent...I guess. Quantity over quality there sadly...
The real disappointment was the reheated cheese pizza they used for ny chicjen and his pepperoni/meat lover type slices. It was obvious they took older cooked cheese slices and dropped some meat and veggies on, then threw it under heat. Costco throws out pizza when it's as old as what we got. The pizza was SUPER thin, borderline "thin crust" and the toppings were in the center of the slice and not baked into the cheese because of the prep method. My friend's slice almost had no cheese too. Taste was OK but overall mediocre for over $5 a slice. I'd rather have Taco Bell.
I'm not going back, been there a few times and full pizzas are OK, but when you have Don's Donuts down the street selling GOOD pizza AND donuts, and Smugs two blocks away selling GREAT pizza; why go to APD? Oh well. Maybe the manager will see this.
Finally, the cashier was obviously having a bad day, or hating his job, or both. He was pretty blunt and unfriendly with both of our orders and seemed more concerned...
Read moreThey charge whatever they want - regardless of what the menu says.
Menu says a Southwest burger is $10.25 and a Black bean burger is $10.25.
I ordered a southwest burger with a black bean patty on 5-4-25 around 5:30pm. I ordered by phone. The person who answered didn't say anything about the price being different than what was on the menu.
I picked up the order and discovered that they charged $4.50 more for this item 44% more than what the menu says! When I told the manager on duty that I'd never been charged this before, he noted that it was "their discretion" as to whether they'd charge the additional amount. He said the previous staff must have "done me a solid" by not charging it (translation: he would not be doing me a solid).
There's no signage in the restaurant and no notes on the menu about additional charges for substitutions. There's no warning when you call in the order, and no willingness to understand how this whole situation is very misleading to the customer. Because they don't acknowledge or document this surcharge, it seems like the amount itself must also be up to "their discretion." The night I went it was a 44% surcharge. No idea what it'll be in the future.
But I'll never know because I'll never go back and I'll warn everyone I know that they'll charge whatever they want...
