Yesterday was the Fourth of July Jubilee in the plaza, an event that could have produced immense amounts of waste if beer was served in plastic cups and all the food on disposable plates. Instead, beer was served in reusable restaurant-style cups and some food vendors used reusable restaurant-style plates. This choice allowed for the community to have a great day of music, food and fun without the cost of thousands of disposable cups and plates entering landfills and lining our streets.

Los Bagels saved our community from all that waste. With so many more people than dishes, those cups and plates needed to be cleaned and sent back out and Eddie and the crew at Los Bagels took on the task of dish washing an event they didn't even have a booth at, while maintaining the workload of holiday traffic at their restaurant. Because of their kindness and their effort, our community enjoyed a holiday celebration, good beer and good food while reducing the negative impact such events can have on the planet.

Los Bagels makes damn good food, they even have vegan options for weirdos like me. They're talented people who care about our community. They're kind individuals who are willing to take on more than they have to for the betterment of others. They blast MF DOOM on the speakers, they hook you up with great coffee and we are so lucky to have a quality restaurant staffed with quality individuals.

Thank you to every Los Bagels employee who put in more work than they had to. Thank you to Eddie for being an incredible leader.

If ever I am hungry, you can find me in line at Los Bagels, 5 stars doesn't begin to tell you just how wonderful this place is.

It's...

Went here for breakfast and the experience was completely underwhelming. I was blown away by the fact that my very basic bagel cost almost $15, and then I waited a very long time for it to come out. I counted at least six people working, and there was almost nobody else in the restaurant, so I can only attribute the long wait to the lackadaisical attitudes, and poor quality, of the workers. When my food finally came out, it had a giant black hair right on top, so I sent it back immediately. At this point I was looking a little closer at what was going on behind the counter, and a litany of heath code violations were immediately apparent. From the complete lack of hair nets and gloves, to the improper use of sanitizer and towels, with employees handling their phones and touching their faces without ever washing their hands, I imagine that contaminated food is a common occurrence here. I went to find a place to sit, and although there was only one occupied table, and there were at least six people working, every table was filthy. I actually had to ask for a towel and sanitizer to wipe a table down for myself. At this point I should have asked for my money back and left, but I was hungry, and so I ate the replacement bagel when it finally came out. Total waste of $15, the bagel itself was stale and not even toasted properly, the lox was dry and flavorless, the onions had bits of old wilted onion and the papery outermost layer mixed in, the capers had been completely forgotten on half of the bagel, and the only good thing I can say about it, is at least they didn’t skimp on the...

If you are looking for a quick place to have a delicious breakfast, lunch or snack - look no further. This. Is. It.

Excellent bagel shop, a must go every time I come visit. The bagels are delicious and fresh. So many unique things about this place - I love that they make ‘slugs’ which are long bagels instead of circular, the home made everything bagel seasoning that they refer to as ‘slug slime’ is spectacular, and the fact that you can get larrupin (local dill mustard that is amazing). They have an awesome menu with lots of different options but you can also make your own.

If you are new to the area or just visiting , make sure to take a jar of larrupin sauce home and a bottle of their slug slime! It is 100% worth it. They always have a great selection of their merch and local items to take home - although it might seem slightly pricey these are all excellent quality and worth every penny.

The staff was friendly and service was fast. Additionally, they have GREAT Covid precautions. Everyone I saw was masked, no indoor eating and the tables outside were well spaced out. I felt completely safe and...

Locals in Arcata, California know that Los Bagels is the best breakfast spot around. 🥯 We were able to try two of their famous scrambagels. I ordered the cheese scrambagel with guacamole added on. Peter tried the chorizo scrambagel. Both were easily a 10/10. 🤤 We paired our bagels with some oat milk cappuccinos and it made for one of the best breakfasts we’ve had on this whole road trip. ☕️ . . . . #lettuceturnipdabeets #losbagels #losbagelsarcata #arcata #arcatacalifornia #californiaeats #bagels

Ok, so, short story of how we ended up here - back in the 80s, my mom lived in the apartment right above the music shop, which is located across the way from Los Bagels. When I told her I was here visiting Arcata, she mentioned a bagel place near her old abode. I'm not sure if it's the exact same bagel place, but sure enough, we found bagels.... and yummmmm I really enjoyed the vibe, especially the friendliness of the staff (that's huge for me as I worked at Starbucks for over a decade. Good customer service is key). I got a jalapeño bagel, toasted with cream cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, and "slug slime," which is an everything topping (sesame seeds, poppy seeds, onion, and garlic? I'm not 100% on that, but it's bomb!). My bagel was so delicious and I am grateful. These bagels remind me of the ones from New York in the Jewish neighborhoods; smaller and dense as they are water boiled. Thank you so much for my breakfast, Irene and Brie. You all are awesome - thanks for being here 🫶
