Myself and Family came for the First time in 2023 since we didn't get to work there this Season and we enjoyed the Haunt but it had its Goods and bads. The cue line was extremely long but that's because it's a Saturday night opening weekend and busy which is good but because we were dancing and singing the songs we got picked to move to the head of the line which was Awesome!!! The team ride was good but the Team Jumpers definitely need work to do a better job but found out they were all new which is understandable. Our absolute favorite attraction was ICONS cause we love Michael Myers Freddy and Jason. Unfortunately the guy doing Michael Myers was very dull and not scary at all I think I would make a great Michal Myers there I have every mask from all the movies. Freddy was great and Jason was okay but could've done more to be scare people more. The Sheriff was good as well the entire new 4 acre attraction was the best of the Haunt Hands Down!!! Now on to the Corn Maze which was where I worked last year it was the WORST ATTRACTION there. The actors did a horrible job doing no jump scares not moving around trying to scare people more than once or anything all they did was just stick their head out and look at you which was very boring and disappointing. The entire way through you heard no one screaming at all even the lady working at the end of it that was there last year even said I don't hear anyone screaming and I said no their not. The lasers to help see were a nice touch but also gave the actors away as well cause they weren't hiding good doing their job. There was less chain saw guys before the corn maze and at the end of the Haunt compared to last year which was disappointing. But as far as the rest of the attractions goes they were pretty well staffed but the actors were jump scaring people only just looking around corners at you. The girl doing the bartender position this year was really bad at it. My son's position from last year the haunted burnt fireman wasn't there which was disappointing as well that was a good character last year. The rest of the haunt was good just could use a few more actors and a lot more scaring people. When we went through no one in front of us or behind us were screaming cause they got scared cause the actors just wasn't putting the effort in to it. After we came out into the Midway we ran into the Owner Tony and talked to him and told him how much we loved the ICONS Attraction and also told him how horrible the Corn Maze was and that the actors overall in the entire Haunt needs to do a better job cause the energy just isn't there!!! He said please give them a review so I have and he said he would pass along the information and work on everything which is great that he listens to people. Overall I would give it a 3 star but because of the ICONS Attraction and getting moved to the front of the line and Tony being so nice at the end talking to us about our concerns and such I give Kersey Valley a 4 Star Review this Year. If the Actors will get on it and have energy and do a better job it could be a 5 star for sure!!! We definitely miss working there and helping pump our fellow actors up especially myself in the Corn Maze we had it going on last year and scared the Pee out of people literally. If you haven't gone there yet this Season. I'll tell you that you need to go to Kersey Valley and tell them that Buddy Warden sent you ask for...
Read moreI personally wouldn’t recommend this haunt over the many amazing options available to you. (VIP tickets)
Pros: The actors in lines were engaging and fun.
There was a great attention to detail on props and the sets! I mean wow! The theater nerd in me was in awe at the sheer scale!
The actors that we did get to engage were great and remained in character throughout!
Cons:
IMPORTANT!! There were a few young children acting in this attraction and one got a bit excited and came into physical contact with me a considerable amount. I’m not talking a brush on the arm here. I’m talking kiddy rough housing I have with my baby brother. I said something about basketball which he took as his moment to “break my ankles and dunk one me” and did start touching me in this playing which I did not reciprocate. I found it cute…but not everyone will. I understand that they’re babies and don’t understand completely why some people might not like that! (ESPECIALLY IN A NO CONTACT HAUNT) That said I just don’t think that is safe for those young actors; especially if some drunken guests don’t recognize that they were touched by a CHILD! No amount of per cautions are enough for those actors safety if are already close enough to touch guest and remain oblivious to the danger in that.
The corn maze was genuinely boring and had little if any scares.
There is a lot of confusion and lack of communication when trying to arrive and when you’re at the event itself. No one knew what they were in line for and if they were in the right places until they got to the end of it. 😂
They did not succeed in separating groups at all. Leading to a rather large and humorous shuffling chain of people (over 20 people). Meaning the actors couldn’t really scare anyone because you could see it coming 10 people away. The line was just awkwardly shuffled around in silence while the actors valiantly tried to scare us.
Overall I found Woods of Terror and Panic Point better for their price and quality.
I would heavily recommend this location to seriously consider capping the tickets sold. Or find a ways to break up lines during the attractions! That way there will be less of a human conga line and more of a good haunt experience for the guest and actors. Overall the cast are great and so are all the other hands on deck but the event itself can benefit from better attention from management. Also please consider a way for the young actors to not be so physically close to guest if they need to be a part of the...
Read moreSaw a video walkthrough from Tampa Jay on YouTube, and I immediately knew I had to experience Spookywoods for myself! Me and my sister made the almost 3 hour drive to Archdale, and needless to say it was well worth it! It took about an hour to go through the attraction and we did NOT feel rushed. I figured being the weekend before Halloween they would be cycling guests through as fast as possible, but that was not the case. We got to walk at a steady pace and enjoy the attraction without having the next group on our heals.
Think about purchasing the immediate entry or VIP if you’re not a fan of waiting in longer lines. A lot of times, the line is equally as fun as the haunt for me. If it weren’t such a lengthy drive home for us, I would’ve just purchased general admission or VIP because the DJ seemed to keep it entertaining and fun while you wait. The music was great, and the atmosphere as you’re in line seemed equally as great. We did, however, purchase the immediate entry pass, so we bypassed the line and got in super quick. It was maybe a 10-15 minute wait.
Employees were wonderful and treated the guest with respect. They seem to enjoy working there! Despite heavy crowds, each employee I came in contact with asked us if we enjoyed ourselves, chatted a bit, and helped ensure we had a great time. They were very friendly.
As far as sets, icons was by far my favorite part of the attraction! The third leg of the haunted attraction (after you get off the tractor from the icons section) comes in as a close 2nd for me! The sets were detailed and amazing, so much that you feel immersed in the experience. The actors were in character and put 100% effort into their scenes. I don’t get scared very often when going through haunted houses, but several jump scares got me. All I can say is watch out for Jason! Me and my sister let out a big "holler." Kersey Valley knows how to design a quality haunted house for maximum scares. I will definitely be returning next year and...
