Low-quality items/manga are usually marked up 20-50% above retail, and the stuff is used half the time. They never stock on the more niche series. They sell quite a bit of knockoff or bootleg items in the store, though the markup is absurd, just like the manga. The workers there, not named the owners, don't want to work there, complaining about things. Ironically, their knowledge of most subjects is poor, which is absurd because it's a store that sells anime and manga merchandise. This store's only positive is its weapon wall, and even that isn't the greatest. My suggestion to people looking to get merchandise like the stuff they sell is to go online; eBay and Etsy are excellent sites for similar to better quality items with higher quality materials. For manga, Barnes and Noble and Amazon are decently cheaper and allow you to pre-order most series up to 4-10 volumes in advance. You can always buy licensed products on Amazon, Walmart, Best-Buy, or the official merchandise retailers like Crunchyroll or Funimation. All in all, In my opinion, it is better to save some money and buy your items through authorized retailers. The novelty of having a homegrown store would be nice if the service and business would be better than it has been for the last six or so years. I give this store 1/5...
Read moreAnime city is great for anime of course. If you’re picky about which anime you watch? You might find some stuff there for you. They have mainstream anime’s along with lesser known ones.
They also have a good retro gaming section with some modern day game selection as well.
Overall it’s pretty good.
The only downside was the guy at the front. Dude was cool, but moved a little too slow at the register and I’m not sure if he’s on the spectrum or not socially, but he’s just socially different? If that makes sense. Which I won’t complain about.
But when workers work at a place, even a minuscule amount of cursing is kinda off putting sometimes.
Other than that, he’s super helpful and a cool guy.
Don’t think I’d come back, but I’m not a hardcore anime fan. I prolly fall in the middle.
But I’d suggest this place for...
Read moreEverything in the store is over priced and can be found online for a fraction of the cost of what they sell. It is ashame Anime City is the only local game store in Ardmore. It is by far the worst local game store i have ever been to. It seems that they struggle to stay open even with their pay to play policy just to sit down and enjoy the store. The walk way towards there restroom is literally a pile of garbage scattered among the floor organized just enough to make it to said restroom. The store is also at times very humid and uncomfortable. These are the small issues i find wrong with the store, my biggest issue about the store is the person who runs the store seems to feel free to give out negativity to anyone in the store. He seems to have bais motives and quite the attitude when i see him arguing...
