We're local and come around twice yearly to check out what they have. Prices are kind of high, but we usually always find something. Hence the two stars instead of one. However, this time really ticked us off. We visited a short time ago and saw these really cool seemingly well-made blades behind the counter. The guy there was nice enough and showed them to us, but shoved a totally fake story in our faces about how he knows the guy who makes them, he's around 50 years old, a real craftsman, local guy, etc. etc. We ended up buying a really cool item, but at the Snohomish Farmer's Market recently we found a family selling the EXACT SAME KNIVES. This was curious so we searched Titan (branded on the leather covers!) can quickly find out that they are a commercialized knife maker from Illinois, hence making the Sassafrass seller look very bad/foolish, overselling and lying to people with a folksy "local" story. You're just a buyer and reseller, which honestly you already admitted to doing, and we didn't have a problem with it. I don't have a problem with buying and reselling at all, but the lying that it's a local forger and all that is just all around really lame. If you'd just been truthful I might have considered buying something else down the road, but unfortunately you have lost a customer. Plus, the whole time he made us think that we're supporting a local craftsman, which we initially felt really good about, but we learned the knives are really made out-of-the-country, which is...
Read moreI've been going to Sassafras for years now and I recently visited the store with my two boys and one of their friends. All three of the boys were so excited, they had their own wallets and wanted to buy a toy. They knew exactly where the toys were and went upstairs to pick a toy out to buy. We were there for no longer than a few minutes and I heard an older gentleman telling them they couldn't be up they playing and asking them to leave. All three of the boys were so upset, they tried telling him that they weren't playing, they were looking for cool toys. The older gentleman wouldn't listen to them. It was really sad and honestly very disappointed the way this man treated my boys and their friend. I've lived in this community my whole life and raise my boys to be responsible and respectful, especially to their elders. I told them to just say yes Sir. We left, and I'll never go back or give this store my business ever again. I'm very bummed about this, but the way he treated them...
Read moreI tried to come in on Wednesday the 8th with a couple friends to buy some decor for my wedding coming up when we were almost immediately kicked out by an older gentleman. He told us to read the sign on the door which said only 2 students, and I told him we were not students and that we were all over the age of 20. I have been to this place a while back as I grew up in Arlington and I knew there were going to be cool things. We left without much fuss, but I was super bummed out. After some research I found out about the truancy issues which I can understand is frustrating for shop owners, but this guy did not care what we said and I assume he thought...
