My mom ended up here after brain surgery and I'm so glad that this is where she landed. I really loved this place. My mom ended up back in the ICU and then in a different rehabilitation facility only due to location. Now that we are at a new place, I see even more how much I like the Gardens on Quail.
First, you get the feeling that the patient's recovery is really important to the team. Everyone introduces themselves and gives you contact information right away. They provide you with a 5-page orientation packet with lots of great information. My mom's new place has a 1-page document with almost nothing.
Second, they are very accommodating to visitors. The way Gardens is laid out, the rooms are close to the dining room and the nurses station. Now that we're in a new facility which could be likened more to a rat maze, I appreciate this all the more. It's so easy to grab ice water, hot water, or a quick snack for your loved one. I can't even get ice cubes in the new place. The hairdresser is a genius. The back of my mom's head was shaved and after she was done with her, you couldn't even tell.
Third, and most important is the staff. The nurses at Gardens were simply wonderful. The communication there is outstanding.
So, why are there poor reviews for this place? Well, it isn't setup like the hospital. If your loved one needs more care than they can provide, it might be frustrating. However, if that is the case, then all facilities will be the same. Also, my mom ended up being diagnosed with delirium 6 days after surgery. I have since learned that this can happen a lot in an over 65 population. She was pretty much delusional and said things about the nurses and the facility that just didn't happen. I wonder if this happens sometimes. For example, she said that they never got breakfast. Well, we were there and she did. She said that they locked the doors at night and wouldn't let people out...there are no locks on the doors. That kind of stuff.
As mentioned, we are now at another facility that is fine and only 2 minutes from my sister. The Gardens, for our family, wasn't close to anyone so sadly, we had to leave. I really appreciate it all the more now that...
Read moreA few years ago my Grandmother lost her husband (my Papa) of 57 years. After his passing, life and living alone became too much for her to bear. She was hesitant as moving to an assisted living facility would be quite a significant change to the life she was accustomed to. To be honest, my family and I were as well. It is never an easy decision and in my mind I was going to be "sending a loved one away"... Well I am here to tell you that my train of thinking was completely incorrect. I didn't send a loved one away. In fact, the complete opposite. Due to the outstanding staff and facility, I was helping her gain HAPPINESS and a reinvigorated LIFE again. Gardens on Quail has significantly improved my Grandmother's quality of life, happiness and has helped aid her in her loneliness being without my Papa. Not only that, but it's provided my family and I great peace of mind. The staff is FANTASTIC! The management, INCREDIBLE. I don't often post reviews but this facility most certainly deserves it. This is a team of folks who truly care about the work they provide to the people we love most. It's not often you find such genuine, hard working people you can trust anymore. I can't say enough about Gardens on Quail. If you are struggling with the decision to house a loved one, give these folks a call. You won't be disappointed. To everyone at Gardens on Quail who have been involved with my family's situation and my beautiful grandmother, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can finally breathe again and my Grandmother and I are able to enjoy laughter together once again! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Five stars just isn't...
Read moreMy brother-in-law has been living at The Gardens on Quail in Memory Care for about a year now. I visit him twice a week so I've come to know all of the staff. They are really attentive and the compassion they show to their residents is amazing. They are now family to us and that makes us feel comfortable leaving my brother-in-law in someone else's care. Several times I've had questions for them regarding his progress and they have gone out of their way to explain everything to me.
The building is gorgeous, clean and very well kept up. There are several large open areas outside the resident rooms, and every day there are planned activities in those spaces. There is a very large enclosed courtyard with a lot of plants, places to sit and even an electric train to watch when the weather is warmer.
During the stressful time of COVID outbreaks, The Gardens has stayed diligent about protecting the residents in every way. As a visitor the rules for me to follow have been very clearly communicated at every step. And the protocol they follow in the building to keep everyone safe is greatly appreciated by me and my family.
In summary, we are extremely pleased with how things have gone here, even when he's been unhappy about not being able to leave, the staff has shown over and over again their professionalism and compassion. Dementia is a terrible disease and we are grateful we are not...
