I wanted to wait for this review to see how long my manicure lasted. So below is my complete experience from booking my appointment to today (about 1 1/2 weeks since my appointment)
First, I was a little concerned about the salon because its price was less than all the other salons in the area, but because it had such great reviews, I decided to give it a try.
I will say the appointment was easy to book online. I had family come visit at the last minute, so it was also very easy to reschedule my appointment twice online. Both times I changed my appointment, the salon confirmed it. So far, so good.
When I showed up about 5 minutes before my appointment, I was quickly and kindly greeted. I mentioned I had a 3 p.m. appointment, and the nail stylist looked extremely confused. But after looking at the clock, I said, "OK, no problem; pick your color."
Another pro I will give the salon is that they had a ton of colors, shades, and styles to pick from. So, if you want an obscure color, they probably have it here. I was seated after waiting only five minutes, and everything seemed normal. There were clearly a lot of regulars, and due to the holiday weekend (Labor Day), they were busy. But again, because I had an appointment, I thought everything was good to go.
However, this is about where my appointment turned for the worse.
After being seated, the young man who did my nails…… was clearly feeling rushed and had no time to provide a positive experience. He cut my cuticles twice. My thumb was so bad that it wouldn’t stop bleeding. He would try to dab it with a paper towel (no gloves), but the blood kept coming. So I reached out my hand and asked if he wanted me to take care of it real quick. He pushed my hand away and said no very sternly, and quickly realized what he just did and said sorry for pushing my hand.
He finished the cuticles, filing and trimming of the nails and put the tools on the shelf behind him. It was at this point that I realized I never actually saw him take his tools out from a clean packet or like out of alcohol or anything and immediately told myself I’m probably going to get my first nail infection from this salon but hoped I was wrong.
My cuticle finally stopped bleeding and he moved forward with the gel manicure. Idk about anyone else but when I get a gel manicure they always ask me to wash my hands at some point, he didn’t do that. He also didn’t let me keep my hands under the uv light for the full timer even when I tried. He wrapped up with a quick hand lotion and I was done. Overall it was about 25 minutes from walking in until I paid and left.
One week later, my nails have started to chip (gel always lasts at least a full two weeks for me), I did get an infection (two days after my appointment my nail bed was full of pus and swollen) and the cut on my thumb is slowly healing.
The only pros I’ll give them is booking online is easy (whether they remember the appointment or not is another story), they are fast and they are cheap.
*I forgot I also booked an eyebrow wax that they never asked me about and I’m happy to say I never mentioned because I’m pretty sure I would have left with...
Read moreAs a person who isn't from the area and here for a month, I needed to get a gel manicure and goggled up to see what was close to me. Found 2 sisters salon where I first went but they were VERY busy and said it would be a long wait. Recommended me to come back in about 2 hours. So I decided to see if there was another salon close by and LA nails was .3 miles away. Found the salon easily then walked in. Beautiful place and it was empty. There were two young men hanging around. I told the guy with blonde hair that I wanted a gel manicure. He pointed at the front and told me to pick a color. I wasn't sure where I was supposed to find the samples of colors as there was a LOT of samples. Finally he went and brought me the sample. Told me to sit down at a bar. I quickly went to the bathroom and then sat down while looking at my samples. Picked a color and both men did not attend to me. One sat in the pedicure chairs just playing on the phone and the blonde one just stood at another bar organizing through tools for like almost 15 mins. I was quietly trying to figure should I say something or just leave the shop because at this point I am being ignored. Luckily Lola and another lady came in the shop. Lola was pleasant from the get go and attended to me. She did a good job from start to end. She checked on me regarding the colors and I felt comfortable with her. During my appointment, there was another lady who came in the shop and the blonde man attended to her so quickly. Then there was another lady who came in with two young ladies and the other guy plus the blonde one attended to them quickly. Hmm okay so clearly they did not want to work on me and that's okay. I am glad for Lola because she did amazing and I definitely will come back for her...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at the nail salon. Getting a pedicure is something I don’t do regularly and consider a special treat. I specifically purchased a hot stone pedicure without any polish because I was most interested in the massage. However, I was thoroughly let down. The technician barely applied any pressure and simply rubbed my shins without any skill or technique. It was incredibly uncomfortable and I actually feel more tense now than when I arrived.
To make matters worse, the technician also cut my cuticles too deeply, causing me pain. Additionally, my nails were left rough and dirty, which is completely unacceptable. In stark contrast, my friend received exceptional service from Lola. This stark contrast only emphasizes the subpar treatment I received.
Overall, I feel like I wasted both my time and money, and I hold both of these resources in...
