I’ve come here several times over the last decade (Candler native) and each time interaction with staff/owner has been rude/curt/short. My husband went to pick up our online order tonight and came back in a noticeably different mood than when he left. So I know it’s not just me (and by other reviews!). They also left crab Rangoon off our order, so I called to let them know. They asked if I would like to come back and get it which I replied no, I would prefer a refund for that item. That obviously annoyed whoever I spoke to. Well, include all of my order then, that’s not on us. No apology, no cares given. Once she got my card information to refund, click. They have the slogan “best Chinese food in Candler” - only Chinese food in Candler, actually. There’s a buffet down the road, right before Smokey Park Hwy meets Patton Avenue, and that’s considered Asheville. So that’s why they get to make the claim. As for the food, I got steak fried rice, very salty. We got an order of lo mein which wasn’t appetizing at all. Some egg rolls that I took one bite of and wouldn’t take another. My husbands sesame chicken was pretty good. Who knows about the crab Rangoon. I probably wouldn’t have left a review at all had the customer service been there. That goes pretty far for me. But that and lack of an apology, well, here I am. I doubt we will be back. My stomach already hurts from the small amount of dinner I...
Read moreIf you're thinking about trying China Grill, regardless of the negative reviews, I would advise against it. The negative reviews initially turned me away from this place, but I ended up giving it a try anyway... and I regret it. The online ordering process didn't work properly, two items I selected didn't even make it onto my order. The food wasn't just mediocre, it tasted quite terrible. The broccoli looked old and smelled even worse. I'm not sure what was in their fried rice but it was yellow and had no flavor other than salty. The crab puffs had hardly any filling and, again, no flavor other than salty. The egg rolls had a little more flavor but it was mostly just really greasy tasting. Worst of all, there was a hair or a long fiber wrapped around a piece of the General Tso's chicken on our plate. That was just completely unacceptable for me, and I made sure to take a picture of that. The only decent thing out of everything was the white rice, and that's hard to mess up. We ate the white rice and threw everything else out, it was barely edible and possibly unsanitary. I don't expect they will issue a refund and that's fine... I do regret giving them a $5 tip though, they don't even deliver whatsoever! But I own up to ignoring the negative reviews and ordering from them anyways, so if I can just warn people before they choose to order from here then I'm...
Read moreI ordered hibachi steak- and requested it RARE and with brown rice I was very clear about requesting rare steak. I should have known that they would be to incompetent in english to actually understand that- even though it was written out on the to-go special instructions. When I got my hibichi out of the bag the steel was cooked well done, making it very difficult, dry and uncomfortable to chew. I was hoorified that there was no shrimp sauce- or any sauce to go with the brown rice and my hibachi!! :
(They were able to understand my request for Brown rice-yet still cooked my steak well done- so I am not enjoying my hibichi at all.)
On a more positive note the vegetables seen very fresh but the seasoning could be better.. kind of a strange aftertaste....
I also ordered Pad-Tai and it's alright, but not so flavorful. I've definitely had much better pad-tai.
I have eaten from This resturant a few times and it's not really worth it... one may be better off for the price and quality going to one of the Chinese Buffets down the road (which are AMAZING)
This resturant is typicall Americanized fast Chinese food.
Don't get your hopes...
