I got what I needed and the sale prices were good but I wish the sales people didn’t need to hover around watching me in awkward silence. I’ve been in twice recently and experienced that both times, with different sales staff. Honestly those experiences might deter me from trying to shop local from now on.
Edit in response to the owner’s response: I appreciate that the employees are being helpful and that’s how they are trained. But maybe they can be trained to loosen up a little? Maybe pretend to busy themselves while being nearby (after the initial greeting and asking if they need help of course) or offer some light small talk so it doesn’t feel stiff. As a customer it is uncomfortable having 2-3 pairs of eyes watching your every move in complete silence while you browse. It was seriously the only thing we could find that I could afford. They didn't mind, but I did, AND they still needed phys ed shoes.
Someone recommended Moore's, but last time I looked at shoes there they were way, way, way out of my price range. We finally looked anyway. I anticipated at least 200 for both shoes and the 40 dollar water flask they needed on top of that. Instead, not only did we find good looking shoes that FIT, but our total was 105.
