What a clever marketing move with the name of the place—it's actually what first drew us in! Curious and looking to pass some time, we decided to check it out, and I'm glad we did. From the moment we stepped inside, I was charmed by the interior. The atmosphere is a tasteful blend of mysticism and bohemian flair, with an inviting and artistic vibe. Local artwork lines the walls, and much of it is available for purchase, which adds a nice community touch and makes for unique souvenirs. Surprisingly, even on a normal weekday when the streets were empty, it was crowded here—the coffee shop was bustling with life. Every indoor table was taken, a testament to the place’s popularity. Fortunately, the courtyard offered plenty of extra seating and a more relaxed environment to enjoy our time. While I can’t speak for the coffee itself, I went for an affogato—and it was an excellent choice. It was so good, in fact, that I completely forgot to snap a photo before diving in. Another great detail: they collaborate with Ashland Baking Company, located just across the street, so their pastries are always fresh and delicious. If you're a coffee enthusiast—or just someone who appreciates a thoughtfully curated space—Black Cat Coffeehouse is definitely worth a visit. It’s more than just a café; it’s an experience that will add something special to your...
Read moreA perfect stop each time we are in Ashland. It does not matter what we are in the area for, we always stop here for a starter or to end the trip. The coffee is rich with each note clearly being tasted. The flavorings used in the coffee drinks are not cheap standards with bitter or artificial aftertastes. A vast supply of loose teas to choose from as well. An interesting mix of vegan, earthy, or downright hippie food. A deep dark well rounded vibe is presented in this little establishment that mixes seamlessly all walks of life. Outdoor seating is pet friendly which is something we favor although I do wish there were more of it. I am not sure how they are connected with the bakery across the street but that bakery is sold there and there are never any complaints when bakery is brought over by us either. Friendly staff. Quick service in regards to the coffee, tea, drinks but a bit of wait, which there should be, with the food items. A perfect statement business to the area that supports both a private and public college and decent medical centers. Time can be spent reading, there is free wifi, and although they are usually packed there never seems to be a rush to move...
Read moreReturned after almost a year from the first time. Thank you to all the people working 12/4, all you were super sweet and nice thank you! Being autistic and a member of the LGBTQ community is hard when traveling outside the city, but this place is like a nice Warm hug and a safe place. I love seeing everyone openly express them selves.
The people and atmosphere are friendly and positive. The food was super yummy and it’s awesome that the fruit is fresh and really ripe(so yummy 😋) the coffee is really good(have to come back to try more!), I really enjoy the different art being displayed and being available to guests to buy. I never noticed the reading book in the back, very nice touch for introverts just looking for a place to relax and people watch. 10/10 recommend to all my friends that’ll be traveling near here. Again thank you to the staff being so friendly and kind.
