My childhood consisted of summers in Ashton, ID working with my family on our grandparent's small "farm/property" on the river. Every chance I could, I would look for some excuse to sneak away to Dave's Jubilee for a big double scoop of Reed's Dairy Ice Cream. The amount of ice cream $3 could buy me from Dave's was enough to make me diabetic in my youth- but that was a sacrifice I was always willing to make! Countless memories with my grandpa, family, or even just myself to go get a quality scoop of ice cream in an old country grocery store became tradition and something I cherished.
Its come to my attention that Dave's has recently quit serving ice cream by the scoop in their store. No more stopping in on the way to Island Park. No more treats after a long hard days work. It looks like they had a deli but it was late in the evening and it was mostly empty. The staff were friendly. They have shopping carts inside the store. There's also gas pumps in the parking lot of the store.
