I have been coming here for 3 years. Overall, I have been very satisfied. The weight room is great... there are a decent amount of HS boys who don't put weights back and the room can become a mess. I would suggest staff be a bit more attentive to this detail.
I pay for the "premium" locker room... $10 a month... I am a swimmer and choose this option because you get towels. If I didn't need towels... it is not worth the extra premium. The locker room is not any nicer than the "free" one. (Other than it has a wet and dry sauna). I would love to see them upgrade this part of the gym. Lifetime fitness locker rooms are significantly better.
The lap pool is great... I saw a review that the water is cold... I disagree... a lap pool should not be warm.
The indoor track is perfect. Not too crowded... each lap is 1/6 mile... usually basketball or volleyball games going on to watch . I have literally logged hundreds of miles here. Ran 14 Miles once on it (snow outside... better than a treadmill) .
Child care area is good. Fun stuff for the kids to do... never had an issue... but notice sometimes staff is not paying attention.
Class schedule... I can only speak to Spinning... I don't feel they have times that work for me (late week day evenings like 7 pm). The few classes I have been to are good... and quite empty.
Hours: Great if you're an early bird. I am a night owl and sometimes I run into issues with the pool closing at 9pm and the gym at a 10 pm. I would like to see later hours and some night spinning.
Staff: spin instructors are good. The weight room staff sit behind the desk and play on their phones most of the night... rarely even picking up their heads to great guest. I would ask management to reenforce no phone use while working... and to periodically walk the floor to re-rack weights.
Once again, I would recommend this place to a friend. 4 out of 5 stars... some room for...
Read more7/19/24 update. Management here is an absolute joke! Signed my son up for a “full””membership to get ready for football. I specifically got email verification from membership manager Hayden Howes as was told in writing my son could access the full gym. 2 months later I was told by some women man with a bad perm who claimed to be a manger that my son could not use the free weights as they were dangerous? My son is almost 12 years old, has been lifting at home for 2 years and is never more than 5 feet from me when we workout and is constantly monitored by me. So free weights are no more dangerous than machines. But this person said no machines are not as dangerous. I said fine and we left. Then spoke to some other person Holly Wiggins who said she ran the entire gym but I have my doubts as she really didn’t seem to know too much and claimed the website and my contract stated my son could not use the free weights due to his age. This was of course a lie as neither state anything about not being able to use the free weights. Anyways I have contacted a Lawyer as they have breached my contract and I will update again once we have a resolution. Be wary of this place, there is a reason the memberships are so cheap, it’s because of nonsense as this!!
Customer service is nonexistent. Been simply trying to add the men’s locker room to my membership for over a week. They say membership department is here till 7. I have been here 4 times in the past week around 6-6:30 and either all membership staff has left for the evening or the person who supposedly can help me is busy at the moment. Definitely need a customer service overhaul as there is no reason the numerous people working the front desk and on their phones cannot accommodate this seemingly simple...
Read moreIf you visit the Vaughn Center in Aurora, IL it is highly recommended that you keep your eyes on your wallet, keys, phone and clothes because they have an unfortunate problem with thieves there. Multiple locks were cut off lockers in a men's changing room this afternoon. They stole all of the above from multiple guests who were using the swimming pool. This is the SECOND time one of the victim's property was stolen from this facility. It's unfortunate but I would not recommend the Vaughn Center unless you are able to keep any, and ALL, of your belongings with you at all times. Some of the patrons who frequent this center are just looking for their next victim. With all the likes this post is not just applicable to us.
Update: A very big thank you to the Aurora Police Officers who have recovered the stolen property this evening. We really...
