Before you take stock in the negative reviews..... I'm surprised by all the negative reviews, but I will admit that I've never had an issue or reason to be in contact with customer service. I will give Factor, the most recent service I used before Cook Unity, 1 point here because when I needed to contact CS, they just handed out refunds, even when I didn't need one. HOWEVER, I had to contact CS quite a few times over open packages, lukewarm food, late or missing deliveries, etc. 4 months in on Cook Unity, I've not had one issue. The food, variety of menu, and portion sizes make this my favorite service, and I've tried a few. It's way above the rest. No delivery issues, and I like that you can keep the bags if you want or need them. We've even used a bag one week, and later on put two bags out when we didn't need them. I've used the bags and ice packs to transfer my goods/foods to work an hour away. The initial delivery has held up hours in the Texas sun, which loves our porch! If you're unfamiliar with a service like this, you need to keep track of your orders, especially before the cutoff date. They will put together a generated menu that meets your plan based on past ratings if you forget, and yes they will charge you if you don't cancel or skip that week! That's within your control. I will compare this to Factor because it's where I came from previously. -Right now, I'm really hating Factor because they're sending me desperate pleas and deals to come back. I don't know if CU does that because I've been using them for months with no issues, and do not foresee stopping anytime soon. -The portion sizes and nutrition are far better in these meals. I noticed someone mentioning bland flavor. Do you not have seasoning in your pantry? Easy fix! However, I've not had to do this. I think it's because I look at ratings in the app for each meal before adding it. My last straw with Factor was getting a meal where the side was ONE broccoli. It's an ongoing joke in my household at this point. -Quality of meat and veggies is exceptional. Factor sent some gross stuff out. Sauces are amazing! -I've literally never had a meal that expired in 2-3 days. They have all been fresh, even a week later! I do get Deliveries on Monday, and they expire on the following Monday, so I wonder if that time frame would be the same for ppl receiving Tuesday deliveries. -Choice: Factor got old super quick and was slow to add new meals. Cook Unity might have too many options for some people, but I love it because I love trying new things. It's easy to pick meals for my spouse because of this. I'm actually done with the review. Try them out! I'd also like to point out that it's a little weird that some reviewers are reviewing the service based on a friend or family member's experience, and while ordering for parents and then leaving a review makes sense, I don't get how you can be ethical doing this otherwise. Alright, there's my 500...
Read moreThis has been the worst customer service experience I have ever had.
I subscribed to Cook Unity but decided to pause my plan because I was receiving too many meals. Their website happened to be down at the time, so my pause request wasn’t processed. When I contacted customer service to explain that I had paused my plan and didn’t want the new order—or to be charged for something I never ordered—they admitted (see attached email from customer service representative Marice) that their website was down. Yet, instead of making things right, they refused to take responsibility and charged me anyway.
The following week, the exact same thing happened. I paused my plan again, yet they still charged me and sent an order with meals I never chose. When I reached out again, customer service representative Gian was just as unhelpful, dismissing my complaint and offering nothing but a useless 50% discount on future orders. I didn’t want a discount—I wanted my money back for food I never ordered and never wanted.
This experience was frustrating, expensive, and a complete waste of time. The service is supposed to make life easier by providing convenient meals, but instead, it required multiple emails, hours of effort, and endless frustration—all for an issue that was entirely their fault. In the end, they never provided a...
Read moreThis is high-end restaurant quality food if you eat healthy! The negative reviews seem to be because people don't navigate and follow the instructions. You really need to spend some time understanding it. I ordered big initially and everything came packaged perfectly and I immediately froze everything except the salads. Now I am able to skip the next 3 weeks and have already changed my plan to 4 meals a week which is all I need. You can change your plan and skip weeks anytime! If you don't check your email regularly, you might put an alert on your phone reminding you to log in and choose your meals. So far, the fresh salads with homemade dressings and blackened fish meals are my favorite. The beef bourguignon was unbelievable as well - high quality SUPER TENDER meat. If you are a foodie and appreciate fine dining food - you will LOVE this company and the amazing Chefs. If you eat fast food, this is probably not for you. I also like using my toaster oven and appreciate that you don't have to heat plastic in the microwave like other meal companies. This a GREAT plan to get exactly how much you want WHEN you want it and is very logical program. HIGHLY recommend!!!...
