Valley Baptist Church Olive Drive Campus — Local services in Bakersfield

I was in visiting from San Diego. Sadly, this is one of the least friendly churches I've ever been to. I stood around before and after service, and and no one even made eye contact with me unless I spoke to them first. One (and only one) person did make eye contact with me and greet me. The rest seemed to have their noses so high in the air they couldn't see me. The music is praise and worship drivel with no real substance to the lyrics. Two campuses, both sing the same songs with two different worship teams, then they turn on a screen to watch someone preach from another campus. The preaching was good, and the one hymn that was sung, but the words to that were altered with an unnecessary new verse. People dressed like they're going to the beach. If I wanted to wear shorts, watch someone preach on a screen, and not talk to anyone I could just stay...

This one of our statilite churches. The facility is amazing. The campus is 30 acres and there is 90k square feet of areas for teaching, preaching, fellowship and worship. The sanctuary has stained glass windows, one of the only 3 pipe organs on the west coast. There is an 8 am organ and hymns service, 930 life groups, and an 11 contemporary service.
