Shananigans Toy Shop — Local services in Baltimore

I love this "Mom and Pop" toy store!!! Store feels like a hidden treasure, since it is in a space that doesn't seem to have much traffic. Every nook and cranny filled with toys top to bottom.

Great assortment - toys to be found for every age. Trains, Calico Critters, the "old timey" toys like Jacks and marbles and pickup sticks (sorry older generation, didn't know how else to describe!), rocks, scented markers, and other tools to create art. Charm its, faux jewlery, plushies. Pusheen, cards of a certain popular type that I shall not name (lol), they are also only 2 of authorized Smiskis dealers in Baltimore County (that i know of), and they have a bunch of other blind boxes!

My family was so delighted to find this store when we moved to the area. It reminded me of the toy stores I grew up with. Do not be fooled by it’s small size (compared to big box stores); they have a very large selection of items, thoughtfully chosen by their staff. They also make it easy to order in whatever it is you want if they don’t have it in stock. It’s a fun spot for children to visit - lots of things on display and toys to interact with. The staff are very friendly and relaxed. There’s never a concern of letting your kids explore - they encourage it! Price points are surprisingly reasonable and on par with what larger chain stores charge (often times they’re better). This really is the best toy store in Baltimore. A great selection of old standards and some truly cool and unusual items—the toys here are great both for kids and for pop-culture obsessed adults.

The prices are extremely competitive, and despite what some other reviewers have said, I have never been treated rudely at Shananigans even during the busiest of the holiday rushes. If all local businesses were this good, the big box stores would not be able to keep their doors open.
