My daughter recently graduated high school. She also passed her state boards for cosmetology. When we were deciding on a bakery to order her cake from, we chose Leach's because of past experience, and a lot of recommendations. She wanted a banana cake, with pineapple filling with whipped cream icing. When I placed the order for the cake, I asked if they were able to do a some cosmetology decorations. The woman I spoke with said that their best decorator wouldn't be there that day, so no, but she would design and decorate the cake really nice for her. The morning of the party, they called and asked if I still wanted to do the cosmetology decorations because they were able to do them. I was super excited about it, and therefore couldn't wait to see the cake. I was running behind when I went to pick up the cake. I briefly glanced at it, and was immediately disappointed, but I told myself it was because I was already angry/upset because I was running behind, and I HATE being late for anything!! We get to the park, I get the cake set into dry ice . I tell my family that my initial reaction to the cake wasn't very nice, but I thought maybe it was just me being behind. I lifted the lid to show them and everyone was silent!! The cake was decorated horribly!! There was a gigantic blow dryer, a tiny pair of scissors that appeared as if they had been drawn on and removed several times. There were tiny flowers in all 4 corners, and the writing was not as neat and professional as you would expect coming from a bakery. Honestly, it looked like I let my grandsons decorate it. I was so embarrassed that I never even took a picture, and left the lid partially on as we served the cake. We cut into the cake and there was so much pineapple filling in the middle of the cake, it absorbed the whole bottom layer of the cake, and was just mush. I paid over $100 for this cake, and was so disappointed. The taste was amazing, everything else was...
Read moreThis store is one of those small-town small businesses, which has been around forever. Everyone knows everyone else and customers and counter people call each other by name. The prices are high, as would be expected, but the quality of the meats and baked goods is said to make it worth it. That being said, if they don’t know you, they don’t want to. They apparently have designated spots at the counter for specific purposes, like to ask a question or have something sliced or even to pick out pastries, but there are no signs, so if you happen to be at the wrong spot holding the wrong product you’ll be ignored. They just won’t ask to help you. I do know a couple of guys who swear by Leach’s for grilling meats, but they are regular customers so they get preferential treatment (waited on). Bottom line, meat is meat, and if you go anywhere else (Giant Eagle, etc.), the meat cutters will give you the same advice. The only reason to go to Leach’s is so you can tell your guests that’s where your steaks are from. People from outside Barberton won’t...
Read moreTheir meats and bakery items are really good but the experience I had today, I will not go back. I was in line to get some hamburger. There were 2 people in front of me. Just as they finished with the person in line in front of me, I noticed someone take a number. I wasn't aware you had to get a number. He took the girl in line behind me and skipped over me because I didn't know you had to get a number. I'm a handicapped person and can't stand for long periods of time. I had already stood past my limit. There was no where inside for a handicapped person to even sit down. So I had to go wait in my car until my husband got my order. I also bought ground chuck that was on sale for $3.99 a pound. I got 3 pounds so my order should have been around $12.00. I ended up paying over $16.00 for my order so apparently, they didn't give me the sale price either. They knew I was next in line so it was very rude to just skip over me. I...
