Cassidy's Fish Market — Local services in Barnegat Light

To my Disbelief, I watched a young worker take off his hat, run his hand through his hair, put his hat back on and asked me if I needed help,,, Ill take 2 lbs of scallops, with the same dirty hand he reaches in the scallop dish and grabs a handful and puts them in a bag,, WAIT !! what are you doing? Wheres Your Glove ? the Manager walks over and says We Dont Use a Glove when we handle Scallops,,WHAT !, You Will if your selling them to me ! so the manager says put on a glove, (the pack of disposable gloves was right in front of the display) so the kid gloves up, then grabs another handful of scallops and puts them in the same bag with the dirty ones ,, Hell NO, im not paying $28.99 lb for Dirty Scallops .Period. So I said Forget It and Walked Out. Incidentally while I waited for the store to open, I watched the same kid walk out front to the strip carrying an Open Flag, he came back in and Never Washed his Hands ! Food Handlers Must Wash there Hands and Wear Gloves When Needed,, BTW, the Prices Are OUTRAGOUSE ! Buyer Beware! I have been living in Barnegat Light for 26 years and have always seen a spike in pricing during the vacation season at Cassidy's but today they are DOUBLE what they were 3 weeks ago. Tuna steaks $40.99 a pound? Scallops U-10s $39.99 a pound, small scallops $29.99 a pound??? Today is the first time I ever walked out empty handed and went to the mainland for fish. I have been coming to Cassidy’s fish market for over 35 years and it still blows me away every time. The scallops are so fresh they’ll whisper sweet nothings into your ear if you hold them close enough. The staff is friendly and never short on delicious recipe recommendations (it doesn’t hurt that they are cute as well). The crab cakes are to die for and the key lime pie has been known to make grown men weep. If I could give them 11/5...
