My time there was an extremely disconcerting one, as I witnessed the staff and patients engage in deplorable behavior that should have never taken place in a professional and therapeutic environment. I cannot comprehend how in a hospital setting – a place where patients are supposed to feel safe and receive the utmost care – such malicious and vile actions were allowed to transpire. I am reaching out to you because I believe it is crucial for this matter to be addressed immediately. During my stay at the Peace River Center, I experienced shocking levels of harassment, taunting, and abuse from both the staff and other patients. What was even more appalling was that the staff were the ones divulging my personal and medical information to these individuals. As a result, I was subjected to constant ridicule and threats, which left me feeling traumatized and utterly violated. I was called a horrible person and was constantly told that my organs would be taken away from me, that I would be pureed and sent into outer space to suffer for eternity. The staff, instead of providing the necessary care and support, joined in with the patients in mocking and abusing me. This behavior is completely unacceptable and goes against the very foundation of the healthcare profession. In addition to the constant mental and emotional abuse I woke up to a shocking discovery. There were six wounds scattered all over my body, each one gaping and weeping with blood. As I tried to piece together what had happened, I realized that I must have been unconscious when these injuries were inflicted on me. Despite my confusion and fear, the abusers refused to tell me the truth behind these wounds. I am appalled by the lack of accountability and negligence on the part of the staff and administration. It is alarming to think that such evil could exist in a place that is meant to heal and provide comfort. I implore you to take immediate action and investigate this matter thoroughly. It is vital that steps are taken to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. I also urge you to implement stricter measures to protect the privacy and dignity of patients that stay at such facilities. Please take this matter seriously and do everything in your power to ensure that no one else has to endure the same trauma that I experienced. I am counting on you to make the necessary changes to maintain a safe and caring environment for all patients. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I look forward to your...
Read moreMy experience with Peace River Center Bartow is very bad. Prior to Thursday, November 24, 2021 I haven’t even heard of this place. However, when a family member began exhibiting serious mental challenges there was no time to do any research as to the best place to seek help. So we did what we thought was best; we called 911.The responding police department took the patient to Peace River Center in Bartow the evening of November 24, 2021.
I felt relieved and optimistic because I assumed that our family member would get professional help. To my surprise we received a call the next morning that the patient has being discharged. I pickup the patient and immediately realized that the patient was in no better mental state than the previous day. The patient was angry and hallucinating, but worst of all someone at the center had identified the family member that wrote the statement authorizing the police to take the patient to the Center. The patient is now furious with this family member. It is unbelievable that an institution that is supposedly accredited could be so irresponsible
I later learnt that no medication was given. There were no recommendation for therapy or follow up. My conclusion is that they assumed that they wouldn’t be paid for their services. Except, the patient has health insurance and would have paid for any service rendered. Peace River Center should be ashamed, especially since they are a not for profit organization. After reading the reviews I am appalled the this place is allowed to...
Read moreBoth of my children were patients at peace river, I just don’t feel that what they were doing was working for my daughter especially. Then there’s the assistant and her name was Alecia Grant, I don’t like her attitude at all, she has a terrible demeanor, I don’t like the way she speaks at all. I found my kids a better place to go where the therapist is more knowledgeable. My daughter just started going to the new place and I am already seeing some improvements in her behavior, this is the first time that I felt hopeful in a while that my daughter’s behavior is gonna improve. At peace river I did like my daughters therapist Yesenia but I was a little disappointed that after we found someone new that she didn’t try to at least give us a courtesy call to say that she’s sorry we had to go some place else. At the new place my daughter goes to I love the fact that I can send her doctor a personal email message that goes directly to her…at peace river their communication was horrible, I had to constantly keep calling for everything that I needed. Leaving voicemails etc, peace river needs to change the way that they do things…patients should be able to leave their doctor an email not always have to go through the doctor’s assistant. I do appreciate what Yesenia did try to do for my...
