TLDR; these guys are jerks who treat you like crap if you even attempt to get ahold of them. They don’t actually respond in 24 hours (or a week for that matter) and they basically bullied/blocked me for simply trying to talk to them. STAY AWAY
This is the first time I've ever made a bad review in my entire life, but I feel the need to expose a timeline of my experience with "Chicago Toy Company" so others don't fall victim to the practices they run when trying to sell/quote a collection. Maybe this is a great place to buy pops, but I could not recommend to even bother attempting to sell your pops to them unless you want a horrible experience
I have a collection of 300+ pops that I was looking to get rid of. This store being within my area, it was an obvious choice to try to get ahold of them. They do advertise that they take walk ins for buying your pops but if you have anything over 100 units you need to DM or get ahold of them to make some sort of appointment (as most places do). With that being said. On June 5th, I made my first initial attempt to get ahold of them. Politely saying I had a collection of over 100+ pops and I had some questions before I made any sort of appointment. In every single post they have FAQ's with one of them saying that they reply to DMs within 24hrs.
This first DM was met with no response. As a busy, newer funko business that's clearly thriving. I didn't think anything of this and patiently waited. A week goes by with no response. It is now June 12th. I then send a second DM saying "Poke* Poke*" hoping that would get someone's attention to my initial message.
After another day of still being ignored, I resort to commenting on there public posts trying to get attention. Nicely letting them know I DM'd them and haven't received any replies.
Two days later today (June 14th) I see another post by them on my timeline thus reminding me that I have been trying to get ahold of them. I'm now extremely frustrated at this point, completely dropping the nice guy and saying things like "is this a real business, you guys keep ignoring my DMs"/ "It says you reply in 24hrs but clearly don't" etc etc. Just expressing my frustrations of being ignored. I then DMd with one last attempt to get ahold of them greatly stating my frustrations, only to be FINALLY met with a reply saying that they "Don't want to do business with me because of derogatory comments made on their page" and to my surprise I'm instantly blocked on Instagram. Nothing was remotely derogatory towards them. No curses were used. Just trying to get ahold of this business and expressing clear frustration while doing so like anyone else would. The only time they ever gave me the time of day was to tell me they didn't want my business. This angered me greatly. All I was ever trying to do was attempting to get ahold of them. I then emailed the business so they can try to elaborate on this clearly wronged situation but they stood by their decision that my comments were "derogatory" in an EXTREMELY rude unprofessional manor.
This business does not have a phone number to call. They themselves suggest to get ahold of them via IG DMs. I thought I was doing the right thing and now I feel like I just got bullied. This feels extremely personal and I can not recommend attempting to get ahold of them to sell your collection. Sell your pops to somewhere that truly appreciates the business that comes through there door. If you really still want to sell to them I HIGHLY suggest just emailing them right off the bat. Don't ever say anything to them on IG cause they'll just block you. I hope no one else gets treated this way...
Read moreChicago Toy Company is a remarkable gem of a store where you can meet George, Dan, and Parker. After donating my kidney I needed to remind myself of all the cool nostalgia and this place was the spot! From the floor to the ceiling they have Pop Funkos, shirts, signed merch, etc.
They are located in a cool building in Batavia where I feel like it's hidden club house. There's a sign that will show you the way. Going up the stairs located on the right side you will enter and BAM you may leave with something you'll love.
Shoot we were so excited, we came back twice! Surfsontrees traded his collection for a cool Glow N the Dark Marty McFly....a grail that was on his "must have" list for quite some time.
You can also follow them on their Instagram and WhatNot for their streams. Also physically coming to the store just brings your Pop Funko experience to another level. I appreciate all the good work they put towards their products and customer service. I highly recommend coming here...even if you have kids. The people here...
Read moreDo not buy from here. This is the worst toy company ever. They do not keep track of their inventory. Messaged them on Instagram and they never replied to any of my messages, I also made comments on their instagram and they never replied. Was searching for a few pops. Decided to take the chance and risk the 3 hour drive. When I got to their store they had tons of pops but none of the ones I was looking for. I asked them on Instagram if they could let me know and never heard from them, they just kept reading all my messages with no reply. They don’t even have a phone number or direct line. How can a business not keep track of their inventory? It’s called a computer. They don’t even have a phone because they know people will call to ask about certain toys and they don’t want to reject any business. Please do not buy from them. There are other toy stores that keep track of their inventory and won’t force you to walk into...
