I have had both positive and negative experiences. I am fully aware we as customers make a choice to shop at this establishment. I would hope that Hope’s management price items to move items off the shelves instead of appraiser value. By shopping @ Hope, (Customers) we contribute to the worker's and the company's income and success. Keep in mind these items are donated free. Please understand some items that are rare need to be appraised. There isn't enough emphasis on these used items' prices as such. The Store is so packed with items that have been donated but not priced why? The items are overpriced. I was interested in a clock that didn't work so I asked the manager if she could lower the price, she explained it was an antique and if it wasn't broken it would be worth more oh really! So you prefer to let the item collect dust or sell it to make room for another item. This store needs some redirection. You profit by moving merchandise not by overpricing hoping gullible customers come in and purchase it. The Manager smiled as I left the store empty-handed.
This is the Hope on Goodwood next to The Dollar General Store. ———————————————————- Update— 8/24 I frequent the store quite often because it is next to Dollar General on Goodwood. To my amazement 2 weeks ago I entered the store and there were donations everywhere. I could barely walk through the aisles. Prior to leaving, I noticed a truck back up to the store, y'all the donations were literally tossed in the bed of this truck. This happens on back-to-back weeks in August. The Store is a fire hazard. The Manager has a 50% off sign so I purchased an item and asked the manager was 50% off item she said no. She replies they just put that out it was a windup top for $9.99. These things are donated. Why is she charging an arm and a leg to her customers? If the manager has the front of the store full of donated items that haven’t been priced. Just consider what the backroom looks like. It is a fire hazard and her neighbors Dollar General and the bakery aren’t aware of the danger it poses. I love shopping @ all Thrift shops because the customers make this...
Read moreAwesome thrift store. I was surprised to read some bad reviews. I think the pricing is plenty fair. I looked at quite a few items that still had original tags, and sale price was 75% off original. That is standard yard sale pricing. There is an awesome selection of clothing - I could really get in trouble in here! I want to commend the owner, Ms Quana. She has a packed store, customers in and out, and she was by herself. With all that, she still took the time to greet every customer, help those that needed it, and worked on reshelving merchandise too. After speaking with her, I found out she does have about 6 employees, 4 of which are disabled in some way. She is an amazing human being who takes the time to help people that may not get that kind of attention anywhere else. I will definitely return to this store and will be telling everyone I know to be sure to...
Read moreI appreciate what you are doing I stop by often and I donate to support your cause and you are conveniently located. I think you're pricing is way too high on some of your items. it appears you have a lot of stuff that's not moving and you are doing a lot of collecting. I've noticed a few items that I have dropped off priced ridiculously high knowing what I paid for them it's not surprising that they are still sitting there. I want to support your store and your employees but I'm not going to donate anything else at Our Hope at least for awhile. I don't think it helps military families if it's sitting on a shelf for months at a time. The merchandise is used, you're getting for free, lower your prices and sell some of that stuff. All the...
