My first visit will not be my last! The visit, prompted by a review of their burgers, went well. My wife and I knew our order before arriving: cheeseburger, fries and drink. Our search for the best burger in Baton Rouge has gotten shorter, because this burger was very tasty.
Though we arrived after 1:00 for a late lunch, the parking lot was full and busy. There were several people in line, and the tables were about 75% occupied with one or more diners.
The wait, which was only around four minutes, passed quickly, allowing us to see orders going to tables. My wife changed her mind, ordering onion rings, after seeing the prettiest, golden-brown rings I’ve ever seen in person. I wish I’d gotten a picture! My wife really enjoyed them. So, they were a highlight of her meal.
The burgers, patties made by hand, are seasoned and cooked well done. They are juicy, flavorful and filling. The bun is soft, but it holds the meat and toppings without falling apart. The condiments are bulk and not named-brand, but they were not needed on the burgers.
My French fries were tasty and plentiful. Served hot, but without salt, they were really good.
Service was friendly, timely and willing to correct an error. My burger was dressed incorrectly when delivered to the table. The waitress was kind when she returned it to the kitchen and quickly replaced it with the right order!
We left full and happy! But for your first visit, know that all condiments are on the counter where you order. When dining in, you’ll order from the counter and pick your seat carrying a sign with your order number. Drinks are...
Read moreThis little small place is a seemingly well known place by the amount of traffic in and out during my visit. After my first bite I knew why. The grilled shrimp philly was exceptional. The flavors and seasonings was a mixture of goodness with all the juices excepted in a good philly. It's served as a footlong po'boy, soft bread, medium shrimp, bellpeppers, onions, mushrooms, jalapeno peppers, swiss cheese and mayo. The chicken and sausage gumbo was pretty good a little more rice then I'm use too. The red beans and rice taste like Bluerunners with not much seasoning or meat. The seafood platter had a great portion for the price. Large shrimp, sliced catfish (not swai), seasoned, crispy fries, crunchy yet soft hushpuppy, and a homemade sauce. It a small with a divided wall. Order first, get a number, self serve drink station and have a seat, food brought out to you. Clean restrooms and friendly staff. This little place on the corner of Tara Blvd and Goodwood Blvd is worth the visit for good food with large portions and a great price. FYI, if you are in the mood for a burger, its HUGE. Called the mega burger, on the value menu, measuring about 6" wide and 4" high, appears to be worth the...
Read moreI call every Thursday to get their Spaghetti because it’s simply my favorite in town. And that’s something I’ve found to be a trend here-items that you usually wouldn’t associate with a Place known for great burgers and exceptional fried seafood, are both unique and have become some of my favorite go to dinners when I can’t think of what I am on the mood for. For example, their chicken kabob, which oddly lacks a kabob, but has some of the most tasty marinated grilled chicken with hummus, Greek salad, and rice - rivaling, but not similar to, my Greek go to restaurants-and at a very reasonable price! I won’t regurgitate the 4000 accurate reviews about these, but their fried shrimp 🤤 Finally, they have, and I dont exaggerate here, one of the best waitpersons I’ve ever encountered behind the counter, as she just exudes positivity, handles high volume well, always gets the order right-and has personality for days-she’s just a gem. Nothing bad to say here. I’m not overwhelmed with their fries, but if that’s the only complaint, you’ve got a loyal customer...
