Hobby Lobby, as a company, is scum. I previously made a review before knowing this information and even then my review was poor, because the yarn I bought sucks (Hobby Lobby brand, of course, as they don't carry anything else because they're narcs), and because the manager was creepy and not doing any work while watching two young employees struggle with a rush. I am rewriting this after going to the store again today and being told to "find Jesus" from an employee after purchasing embroidery material and then falling down a gross rabbit hole about Hobby Lobbies corporate history.
I have since learned that Hobby Lobby is a corporation with a history that rivals Chick-fil-A, which is it's own can of homophobic religious words. Having Hobby Lobby be a corporation that prides itself on craft supplies for all - They are an incredibly prejudice and anti-diversity driven mesh. They do not cover birth control in their healthcare plans for employees because of religious views, have unjustly fired queer employees for simply existing and refused to give them their final pay, treat their other employees like garbage and force them to individually type in product information because they sell their specific brand and products and do NOT put barcodes on them, and are regularly discriminatory twords shoppers and employees for conflicting religious views.
The idea that a corporation would bootlick a religion and capitalism to such an extent that they would hurt their employees is sickening - And makes me not want to shop there. I wanted to get my grandma a prayer calendar for Christmas and I will not be going back to Hobby Lobby to find one. Shame on you. Forcing religion and not allowing your employees religious or medical freedom is bad among itself, but with other corporate actions, I cannot purchase from there with a healthy conscious. I'll stick to Michaels and...
Read moreIt's such a fun place to find what I'm looking to create my thoughts! I posted that comment several months ago. I'd like to update you. I still like your store, but yesterday I was treated very badly by your employees. What had happened was there was a sales price sign, and it said $2.99. When I went to the checkout, it wasn't $2.99, so I said I didn't want the item. No big deal, right? The checkout gal said she would send someone back to check the price. I said no, that's fine, but she had someone go back to look anyway. They looked, and they said there's no sign, making it out like I was lying. I told her I did not want the item and I was not lying. She continued, and I told her I did not want her confrontation, then the manager came up and pointed at her finger and said, "First of all." I didn't hear a thing after that, I just wanted to get away from the situation. Again, I said I didn't want any confrontation, and she just kept going. Never asked me nothing, just pointed at her finger and said first of all. Anxiety over such a small item? I felt attacked by your staff, and I don't understand why they had to make it such a big deal? You got to know it's going to be hard to walk back into your store, I will, though. Ordering online might make better...
Read moreLast week we purchased an expensive clay pot that was priced at nearly $100 from the Hobby Lobby in Baxter, MN. Additionally, we also bought about $50 of dried flowers and arrangements for the pot. It took a couple hours to get everything cut and placed neatly into the pot.
This week the exact same pot is on sale at 50% off. We have the receipt and wanted to receive a price adjustment. However, the co-manager insisted that we bring the original pot to the store. However, at this point it’s not very movable with the dried flowers and sand in the bottom, which together weigh around 25 lbs.
This seems like an extraordinary hassle to take this all apart so they can see the pot. Other retailers routinely would do a seamless price adjustment.
Hobby Lobby is not the easiest company to do business with and we’ve had similar issues in the...
