This place is fantastic!
I am someone that enjoys massages frequently. Usually about 2 – 3 times a month. I was going to the same therapist for about 3 years before they abruptly moved out of state. After trying another therapist at the same place (it was awful) I was stuck finding another place to go to. I decided on Day Escape because their website was very informative AND I didn’t have to call to make an appointment or check the schedule. I abhor having to call places to find out if they can accommodate me. Especially during the day when I am busy with work. So the fact that I was able to both check their schedule AND make my appointment online was a very good sign. The day of my appointment I developed an allergic reaction on my foot. It was small but a lot of places are funny about things like that. So I called and told them and they asked me to come in anyways as long as it wasn’t contagious (which an allergic reaction is not). Brittany was the receptionist at the front desk and she was very warm and friendly. She had a great attitude and sense of humor. She checked me in and then walked me to the changing room and gave me the rundown of what I should do. They have little lockers inside and furnish you with a key and a robe. I did not get any slippers but I didn’t ask for any either. I’m not sure of whether or not they provide them. Everything was clean however and I had no qualms about walking around barefoot.
HEAVEN. Alyssa is a GODDESS! Her technique was on point! She used deep tissue techniques in my hardest areas and light feathery strokes in others. She didn’t try and carry on a conversation with me which is great because I have no desire to talk to anyone during massages. She broke into my thoughts twice to ask how I was feeling and if I was good with the pressure and that was it. The rest of the time she just focused on what she was doing and let me enjoy it. I admit I was extremely nervous going into the massage. As a plus size woman it can be very difficult to let anyone touch you when you are so worried about being judged. I get it, people have their likes and dislikes. But to find that one business that will treat you just like anyone else is a Godsend and I reward those places with my loyalty and my money. When my massage was over I could barely talk because I was so relaxed. She directly told me to take my time getting up and moving around and to just enjoy my little afterglow. There was no rushing me out of the room and no trying to get my immediate feedback.
*Couple of things to note that may or may not be a problem for other people (but was not a problem for me)
There are no slippers. If you are weird about walking around barefoot either ask for a pair or bring your own. The robes are quite small. I am a size 18 and I just barely was able to tie mine closed. I will be bringing my own robe next time. The lounge is small and very bright. There is no water or refreshments to partake in BEFORE your treatment. I am sure that you could ask for a bottle of water and take it in with you if you need to have something. There are also no magazines or anything to read while you are waiting for your appointment to begin. The treatment rooms are not soundproof. You CAN hear other conversations taking place. While they do ask people to be quiet and keep it down you can’t really control everyone. So if you are someone that needs absolute silence 110% of the time during your treatment (with the soothing music) you may be slightly annoyed by this. The heated massage tables can get warm. If you get too hot, simply ask for it to be turned off. I elected to keep mine on the entire time.
10 out of 10 for this place. And 20 out of 10 for Alyssa. I WILL be back and she is my new...
Read moreBit of a disappointment for Christmas present pedicures. Not greeted at all when we walked in the door, Stood around for a minute and the two ladies giving the pedicures just called our names - thats it,,, didn't ask how we were, how our Christmas was - nothing. The lady that did my pedicure never even spoke to me except to ask if i picked out a color!.. My daughters lady conversed a very little bit - but just not a friendly vibe at all. NO massaging of the legs - nothing. I had scheduled the 90 minute deluxe seasonal pedicure - there was nothing seasonal about it. At exactly 60 minutes we were done. NOT the 90 minutes scheduled. When I went to pay I told them we did not get the 90 minutes and no massage. The receptionist tried to argue a little and said our feet must not have needed much buffing and probably that we had no callouses! I said no, your online menu specifically says 90 minutes - so she did only charge us the 60 minute massage. I would not go back - too many other salons in Bay City to...
Read moreI was looking for a spa in Bay City and came across Day Escape's website. I saw that they had a Thursday Happy Hour event where they take walk ins for express services. Basically, mini versions of the services they offer. I thought that this was perfect. The sign out front confirmed this event was happening today. I walked in and wait a few minutes until someone who did not work the front desk tried to help me. She looked on the computer and said that nothing was available, but I could schedule something for a different day. She said they do take walk ins, but that you should schedule an appointment because certain people that do certain services are not here. Don't advertise a walk in event if it truly isn't so. I would not have driven 20 minutes to get here if I would have known that. Needless to say, I will be going elsewhere with...
