This place has some of the worst food I've ever eaten. The chips were burnt, both which was served with our salsa and made in the nachos. They looked burnt and tasted burnt! The Salsa tasted like it had too much cilantro in it. It had the consistency of tomato sauce and tasted like a mild tomato sauce rather than a chunky, flavorful Salsa should. The menus we ordered from were printed on paper and were dirty with dried food stuck on them. The menus had multiple misspellings on them and items were crossed off the menu with ink. The restaurant itself was dirty. The table where we sat was wobbly. We watched other customers leave and their dirty dishes and food were just left there until we left. Nobody came to clean their table. There were flies buzzing all around us and in our food. I complained about my food and said it was inedible. I took one bite and sent it back. I was not offered anything else to replace my meal, nor was my bill compensated for the horrible experience we had there. We asked the waitress if this place was indeed a restaurant or a second hand store since there was jewelry lying everywhere and boxes and rugs strewn about. We were told that the prior lessee had not yet removed all of her merchandise, but have since learned that "silent owner" Laurie Decker was responsible for that mess and was indeed running some kind of store inside of "Taste of Bay City" selling her jewelry. When I went to "Taste of Bay City's" Facebook page and left my comment there I was verbally attacked by Dan Hetzner and others being called ignorant and other foul names simply because I'm not a friend or relative and have a differing opinion and had a really horrible experience at their restaurant. After that I was told by the one who called herself the "silent owner", Laurie Decker that they don't go on Google and she wished I hadn't done so. I checked on Google and there is Laurie Decker positively reviewing her OWN restaurant!! I see now why she tries to remain a silent partner. I was also accused by this person of having a motive for saying their food was awful and inedible. Actually I do have a motive and it's my strong will to inform the public of businesses such as these who serve substandard food, have deplorable cleaning standards and no idea what customer care means. Then they proceed to humiliate their customers when they dare to complain. That should not happen, not in this day and world we live in. The final blow came when another owner, Mandy Decker told Laurie Decker to delete me because that's how she deals (those are her words)with negative comments about her disgusting food, her dirty restaurant, her filthy menus and her neglect in management. I would give this a restaurant zero star rating if that were an option, so I've given you the lowest score allowed. It is my opinion that you are serving nasty food that looks like someone already ate it and you are so rude to a customer who was simply offering an opinion and possibly a learning experience for you to do better. But instead you chose to delete my comments, block me, then call me names. Here on Google you can't delete, nor block my opinion. When a business won't let ALL opinions to be viewed, then they are obviously trying to hide something. I am not out to get you. I'm a customer who had a very horrible experience in your restaurant and will never patronize your establishment again. The community and others thinking about going to your restaurant need to be informed. You can't blame all of the things that went wrong that day on your landlord. At some point the owners must step up and accept...
Read moreTldr: I waited, in person, over an hour for food. Other patrons left the business due to lack of service and wait times.
Taste of Bay City has $1 taco Wednesdays. I called in an order for pickup at 6:33 pm. My husband and I walked over there because we live nearby. Hoping our walk was long enough for them to make 5 tacos, I waited an hour, in person, for my food.
While I was there I saw:
at least 1 family walk out after eating, without paying, due to poor service. They didn't receive all the food they had ordered even after taking the time to approach a server because they weren't being attended to at least 3-4 people cancel their orders after having paid due to long wait times at least 3 different sets of patrons come in, sit down, and leave due to not being served. On one occasion I even heard a server say "I'm sorry I didn't realize you were even here".
The front of the house staff couldn't keep the seated patrons orders organized. I saw food being taken to tables, just to take it right back to the kitchen. Occasionally it was taking both of the servers just to attend to a single table. Leaving no servers for anyone else.
The employee who runs the cash register and phones left to go help the back of the house at some point.
The back of the house on multiple occasions, when given a name for an order, would say it was "being made right now" but there would still be another 15-20 minute wait before it came out.
I don't know what the issue was, but none of the staff members were able to give a single customer any of the time, energy, attention, or consideration that they all deserve. Not a single meal was comped or discounted.
I know food service is a hard job, but this is bulk taco night and it happens every single week. They should have some sort of system in place by now to keep the entire business from falling apart when they're receiving orders specifically for taco night.
This is not the first time I've had issues with them on Wednesdays but it is the worst experience I have had with them, and possibly any restaurant ever. I do not think we will ever be going back, which is a bummer, since they're...
Read moreWe’ve done many company meals with Taste of Bay City but yesterday’s was enough of a disappointment that I won’t use them again. Every time we’ve ordered a taco bar for 12 people the following items came in a half pan: lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, ground beef, rice, and beans. Today however all of these same items were packaged in small styrofoam To Go boxes giving us far less food. The only item that wasn’t packaged that way was the tomatoes. That was packaged in a small round To Go cup giving us barely any. We received significantly less food than normal but were charged the same price. There wasn’t enough ground beef for the 24 taco shells it comes with. Then we were told that there’s now a mandatory 18% gratuity added to all catering orders. I was charged 19% on the order. I have no issue tipping but when it’s an order that’s picked up (no delivery, no set up, no service) 18% is pretty steep especially when we didn’t get enough food for the 12 people it was supposed to feed. To top it all off the order was picked up at the exact time indicated but was cold. The food wasn’t even warm let alone hot. Every single person that ate had to heat their food up. The food is just average so the service needs to be better. There are plenty of other places in town where the food and service are better so we’ll be switching to...
