Stop N Play — Local services in Bayonet Point

I'm only giving it 2 stars because my nephews and niece had a fun time, but if not for that it would get a 1. I'm not usually someone who feels the need to post a review or even voice my displeasure, but as someone who works in customer service I feel that it is important to bring up when I know how you are supposed to treat people who are your patrons. As a few other reviews state, there is a woman who works here who is quite unpleasant. After driving over and hour and a half just to see my niece for her birthday, I walked in holding a present (She wasn't having the party there I just didn't plan on staying long and wanted to pass the present over to my sister), and sat it down briefly to go get some tokens so I could play a few games with my niece.

This woman RAN from across the room and rudely accosted me as I was trying to get tokens to rudely tell me that we cannot have a party there (which we weren't), and when I tried to explain to her that we weren't she very rudely told me 'Well the sign is on the door', in a very nasty tone. I was so taken aback that all I could do was stare, as I had only set them down after a long drive all the way down up from largo and was only passing the gifts over to my sister so my niece could open them when she was home. My sister thankfully swooped in, because I am a person with a diagnosed anxiety disorder and I had no idea how to even respond, and told her that we were going to put them in her car.

Come to find out, this same woman who yelled at me, was the reason she did not book a party room, as she was extremely rude to her over the phone when all she was trying to do was ask for questions and prices. She had rudely told my sister to call back in an hour because 'we aren't even open yet', in a very nasty tone of voice. I would work on this. It put a whole damper on my mood, when we were just trying to have a fun family night because we live so far apart. As someone who works in customer service myself, I understand the frustrations of people not listening to you or following rules, but as I am not from around there nor do I frequent the place a lot and because I hadn't noticed the sign on the door, I feel like I could have been treated a little more kindly for my ignorance on the subject matter of bringing gifts inside of the building.

Please try to have a kind heart, as I really do believe you will lose paying customers if this woman continues to speak to people in the way that she spoke to me...

Do NOT come here if you ever plan to take photos or videos anywhere inside, even if they only include you, your family, or nobody at all. When reading this review keep in mind that as of now they DO NOT have a "No Cameras allowed" or anything of the sort sign anywhere, not outside, inside, or on their website. Really sucks that I have to leave this review, but they left me no choice. I am like the other reviewer who has a run in with the rude manager. Basically, I was showing off the arcade stuff they had, the claw machines, pinballs, etc while also filming myself, and my mom. We even passed about 2-3 different workers while doing so, no problem. After getting about half way through, the manager comes up to us and asks why I was filming, I told her, and she said that the owner does not allow filming of any kind. I said "oh okay, I'm sorry" and shut the camera off and put it in my pocket. I then said that I was surprised because other arcades and minigolf places love it when you film and take photos and she snapped back at me and said "Well we are NOT like other arcades" and then walked off. We were kind of shocked at the reply, but continued to finish looking at the arcade stuff (something we actually planned on doing after looking as well as the minigolf). After finishing looking, I decided to go back and asked her if it was okay to upload what I already filmed already when it doesn't include any other person in the arcade, and she still told me no. I then asked her if there were any actual signs that say not to film, and she also told me there weren't and then rudely told me how she doesn't want to argue about this any more and then proceeded to go behind the counter to ignore us. After that, instead of playing minigolf or any of the arcades, we left right then and there. If you want no cameras, while that's very stupid to say, especially when people want to take photos and videos when they have a birthday party, that's 1 thing. But then treating your customers, or potential customers like crap when they weren't rude to you in any way is the fastest way to lose customers. When you change your no camera policy, your manager, or at least your managers attitude, let me know, but until then, we will not be coming back, and will make sure to let others know of our other recommendations instead. Monster minigolf comes to mind as a great...

Clean, affordable, and fun. Decent mix of classic and newer games to play. Only one or two things out of order.

Update: I had given Stop and Play 5 Stars a couple of years ago. Been coming here periodically since I was a child.

Brought my daughter on her 3rd birthday. Didn't make a "birthday reservation" because we had other plans for her actual party. Just wanted to give her a couple hours of fun. Her uncle met up with us at Stop and Play and brought her ONE present. As my 3 year old started to open it, a member of the Stop and Play staff felt it was necessary to inform us that presents are strictly forbidden unless you pay them to host your party.

Needless to say, this place was fun in the 90's and early 2000s, but times have changed and they're clearly desperate for every penny. Sadly, they shoot themselves in the foot when they allow their policies to turn them into the fun police. I would have understood if we showed up with 20 people and a pile of presents/cake/etc. But one three year old with one small present?

Terrible taste left. After many visits over literally decades now, this will likely be our last. It was already a stretch to pay so much to play games that you can download to your phone for free. Add asinine policies, and your money is better...
