WARNING: DO NOT RECOMMEND DINING AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!
My fiance and I were previously frequent customers at this establishment. We liked that it was closer to home for us.
However, after two unacceptable experiences, we've had enough. Here's what happened:
A month ago, we dined in and had concerns about the potential risk to public safety about the temperature of the food. The food we took from one of the refrigerated tables was too warm to be served and the fresh fruit tasted rotten. I enjoy overripe fruit, but that was ROTTEN. The salad mix on the same table was wilted and slimey. And the pudding on the table was lukewarm.
Regardless, we decided to return later and avoid that table because we still liked the convenience of the place. But after the manager cussed out my fiance in both English and Mandarin, it was time to go. For some context, my fiance and I were walking in to get a table and laughing with each other about a joke completely unrelated to the restaurant or manager at all... He walked over to us and cussed under his breath. When my fiance asked him if he actually just swore at him, he responded yes and ensured he did. The waitress asked what was going on, and he snapped at her and told her not to speak to us. What kind of family establishment is this?
If you're wondering if my concerns are valid, look through the previous reviews. Another customer even posted some candid shots of the meanie manager!
Needless to say, we left and will never be returning. We also reported the public health concerns to the Better Business Bureau.
Even if the food was the correct temperature, it's still sub-par. There are better buffets in the area. We are very happy to drive to New Port Richey, or even all the way to Spring Hill to get better food and welcoming service after this experience.
I can't wait to see the owner respond with "stop sharing lies" because they have no accountability or care for their customer service, also as seen in previous reviews.
Dine at your own risk, it seems like a lot of people have issues with the manager, and the...
Read moreI went with my mother to eat with my son and my brother who are 4 and 3 years old but my brother did not eat, he is autistic and does not like to try new food, but he still accompanied us, my son liked the food and it was not bad .It was not something I he hasen’t tried before, but I don't plan on going back. The waitress aggressively approached me halfway. The waitress asked me that if I was going to pay with a card or cash, my mom was waiting for me at the entrance of the restaurant, normally the times I I've gone, I've always paid at the front where the gentleman is with the cash register, I've never had that problem before, but I don't know why she treated me mistrustfully as if I weren't going to pay for the food, the way she aproched me it was horrible, so I asked the waitress if there was still a problem with paying with the gentleman where I have always paid for the food, she ignored me, the waitress also raised her voice and told me to pay now!!! and I asked her if there was something wrong with paying up front, she didn't answer me but she followed me to the cash register and she began to speak to the cashier in her own language, I don't know why she had thaattifude. I asked the cashier if it was okay to pay with him or with the waitress, he told me that it's okay either way.I'm an understanding person but the truth is that the waitresses didn’t speak much English, and what little she did know she said it in a certain rude way. I was already paying and I asked the gentleman why they charge me two dinners for a child if only my son ate, my brother didn't, although he took the price of a meal off the receipt, the cashier still got upset and told me to sign for him as I was writing the tip, and the cashier didn't let me finish and told me to sign the receipt again, I don't know why there was such aggressive treatment, even so I only left the waitress two dollars . They treated me badly And I don't know why the distrust, and the bad treatment, I don't usually go to this place much but I don't...
Read moreAlthough the food quality is sometimes inconsistent, this is an excellent buffet style restaurant.
First, a couple of concerns.
I'm slightly concerned that there aren't food warnings. For example, if you try the mussels, remember to never eat a mussel that hasn't opened. Many of us know this, but there are certainly people who don't. Yet there is no sign posted about this.
Also, seafood (shrimp, fish, krab) is almost always overcooked. This is, in part, due to it being kept in warming trays. It often causes the shrimp to become rubbery and the fish leathery. However, if you get to it when it's first brought out, it's worth having.
Also, I do have some concern about spread of contagion, since everyone will use the handles to scoop out the food from the buffet trays. Still, if you use an alcohol-based gel product on your hands when you return to the table, it should be safe enough.
Do make sure you have some cash on you so that you can tip the chefs who will cook the food at one of the stations. There, you can pick out whatever you want, and they will cook it up in front of you on a hot slab, with your sauce of choice. It's definitely well worth it. In fact, that is really the best feature of the entire buffet.
They also have plenty of sushi but it is generally the same type of sushi reimagined in different wrappers or with different sauces. There is little variety. It's understandable, since there is a lot of cost and expense in putting out daily portions of food that may or may not be eaten by the end of the day. So although one or two pieces are very nice, don't expect to eat a wide variety of sushi there.
Overall, the prices are excellent so you definitely are getting your money's worth when you go. Just be aware that not all of the food is of the same quality...
