Solid shop, good selection of games and merch but smaller selection of comics. Owner is nice and customer service is better than a corporate/chain comic store. Pricing is very reasonable and competitive, and they have an area in the back to play card games and board games with others which is really cool for them to do. Only real complaint I had was today there was a signing from a celeb and it was posted it was a free ticket for signing, absolutely no mention of the celeb charging for signatures or anything. I don't live close by, so I drove out there Friday for the ticket, came back today, and was told literally as we were in line it was $60 a signature. I wasted 4 hours of driving back and forth twice, over a full tank of gas, and disappointed friends that came with me because we didn't have $60 each to pay to meet a childhood hero and it wasn't mentioned AT ALL up front he was charging or what his rates were going to be. If it was like $20 or $30 that's one thing, but $60 for a signature with how expensive everything is now is pretty hard to do. If they advertised the celeb as charging $60 for a signature I wouldn't have gone, no harm no foul unless I had the money. So in all honesty, I feel kinda like it was a bait and switch. Other than that, it seemed like they were handling the signing well, but they need to be very clear about promoting stuff like this. Very disappointed, but I'm not going to let something like that take away from what I still think is a great small business and still purchased something as a gift when I went Friday. I just hope they learn clarify and be up front and honest on social media about their guest signings instead of saying something is free when it's...
Read moreVery poor customer service. The shop hosted a league in which I could only really play on Wednesday which for the first part if the league wasn't an issue in fact they had multiple games being played evert Wednesday. These games were played in a side room which I had help clean up multiple times in order to make it playable in. After having played 4 of 8 league games and having scheduled my 5th in the side room through a group chat that they moderate I showed up that night in order to play. After going into the room to set it up like I had done several times before I was approached by a very upset worker that told me I needed to leave the room and threatened to grab my personal belongings in order to get me out I asked for a moment to call the owner of the store and was told if I didn't leave the room the cops would be called. After getting in touch with the owner even though there was an agreement that we could play in the room, again I had help clean it out multiple times. I was told that I wasn't allowed to use an empty room to play in a league in which they were hosting even though it was cleared out to play 40k in. I would highly recommend against coming...
Read moreVery poor service. I have tried to support the store since it was part of San Jacinto Mall before it left. The card inventory is poorly kept, and the store is an unorganized mess. When I asked an employee if they kept a database of their inventory him promptly gave the excuse that, "we sell toys, videogames, and cards. We don't have the time to keep up with the store's inventory." He then proceeded to just stand at the desk and talk to a friend who was hanging out while listening to music on his phone!
I was optimistic at first about our town finally receiving a game store like All-Star Comics, but the store is STILL run and kept up with so poorly that I simply cannot force myself to shop here any longer.
I now take my business to online stores, or other comic book shops in the Pasadena area, that have a higher standard for their employees and the...
