Caribbean Hangout — Restaurant in Baytown

Ordered to go: We placed and order over the phone. The man that answered was kind and patient as it was our first time trying this restaurant. First issue was that they didn’t have everything on the menu. We were trying the Three Treasures (you can pick 3 meats and rice). They didn’t have the jerk chicken, jerk beef ribs, goat, or Caribbean fried rice . Of course we wanted to try the Caribbean fried rice, jerk chicken and jerk ribs. We ordered alternatives anyway as we wanted to give the restaurant a chance. We ordered 3 orders of oxtails, curry chicken, curry beef, and stew chicken. We also ordered one beef patty. They give you plantains and a random salad with Italian dressing (which made no sense). The portion sizes of the meats were a nice size except for the rice and peas. The curry was flavorless and oily. The beef in the curry beef was extremely dry. The stew chicken was okay at best. The oxtails were very small (they give you a lot though) and we’re also okay at best regarding flavor. The rice and peas were also flavorless. The beef patty was okay. The menu price online is very different than what you are charged. I’m assuming they have not updated their online menu. Overall, the food was overpriced for under-seasoned food. I would recommend trying for yourself, but understand that if you want good flavorful Caribbean food you may want to...

They were closed for a minute but they're back open. I'm not giving 5stars only cause they still need help inside. However the reason we stick around and waited for them to open again is the owner is cool and his food is EXCELLENT. I get the veggie platter and veggie patties. A lot of people who eat meat love the curry. And his sea moss is indeed the truth, the real deal meal replacement. I suggest you buy the gallon. Also buy the gallon of his sea moss and soursop combo. You'll thank me later. Yes he's short handed. They don't always have the items on the menu. But the product, the food itself...is WORTH IT. And again his sea moss is authentic, not the prepackaged stuff. You will taste...

The restaurant is in a good location, and there is additional parking behind the restaurant. If you visit and no one is at the front, continue on thru to the double door (kitchen area) and call out. You might also consider looking at their online menu and order your meal prior to arrival because it seems everything is cooked when ordered.

Although it was somewhat of a wait, the food was exceptionally flavorful, and worth the wait. The chef was very welcoming, and knowledgeable about the food selections on the menu.

Now that we know of them, we will definitely return. We gave 4 stars because of the wait time. The food...
