Fischers Hardware Baytown — Local services in Baytown

Update: September 27, 2022 I received a mailer as a new resident to Baytown, from here on this day by the U.S. postal service for a free Rubbermaid 32 gallon trash can and a 4 pack of Philips 60w LED soft white A19 bulbs with medium bases. Yeah! What store gives away goods anymore? Nobody but here that I know of. Wow, I’m in awe about these acquisitions today. Way to go Fischers! You DO IT BEST!!

I’m a new resident to Baytown since the summer of 78 when I rented an apartment over some landlord’s garage while working at Brown and Root at the Exxon plant for a couple of summer months before my first year in college down in Florida.

This time around I’m a new homeowner here. So my very first local shopping trip was here at Fischers on a Saturday afternoon in August 2022, within a couple of miles on S. Alexander. I’m here for mostly a rolling trash can and knew my instinct was right to stop here first.

The 32 Gal Toter was ideal and is well constructed for local Waste Management pickups. Harris County to tighten their utility budget up is requiring Baytown homeowners to buy their own can and they will supply a green recycling bin that is the standard 96 gallon capacity I believe. Wish this location was as professional as La Porte location. You walk into the Baytown store. Employees sloppy dressed cant distinguish employees from public. Give you staff at least a company t-shirt or vest. But most importantly the lady you first make contact up on entering store. Asks what are you looking for. Demanding an answer. You inform her what you are there for. Then over the loud speaker hand held radio announces aisle #. I stopped to look at another article. I was then approached by a male. Direction me over here Sir . At least he was polite. He saw the screw hanger . The item i was looking for. The poor guy had no clue . What he was looking for. He looked n looked and finally. He went to look for 2 other men. The last man a veteran employee. Knew exactly what I wanted. He recognized and finally we felt welcomed at this location. My wife and I witnessed the lady with the radio go in the ladies room and was screaming over the loud speaker more directions. Not everyone that walks into your store is not a shoplifter. We felt that way. We will continue to visit LA Porte location. Baytown location. Maybe not;...

My Husband went to purchase a big pot for a tree we need to transfer. The young man insisted that he was going to load it into our truck. The whole time my husband insisted on helping h so it wouldn't be broken. The young man just declared he was going to do it. It , of course was broken and a large chunk of the rim was broken. They asked if we still wanted it. My husband explained what had happened and the manager said that people are always wanting to not spend full price. My husband had paid full price! Since it was broken at this point, of course we should get a discount. The manager had the young man unload it and and gave our full return of money. Now someone else will get it at a marked down price. The manager walked away talking about how people try for discounts all the time. If anyone knows the owner please let them know this...
