I was looking for a used Chevy Bolt and on Dec 29, 2020 went to this dealership as they had a few used Bolts on the lot. Nichole approached as my wife and I got onto the lot and we tell her why we were there and she shows us the Bolts they have. We find one that we like, but were not able to test drive it due a recall. I did my homework and I knew there was a recall on the 2017-2019 Bolts, and this vehicle was under that recall and that GM dealerships are not allowed to sell this car until the recall was fixed. We were willing to wait as this was the car we want. We start talking price and Nichole hands us off to Dan. We finally agree on a price ($13,400) and he writes that price on the back of his business card, puts it in his desk along with the keys and says we are good. I ask if we could put down some money to hold the car until it was fixed, but Dan said there is no need. Now, here is my 1st mistake, I did not get the price in writing. My wife and I leave, happy that we found a car that we like.
As the months pass, I keep in contact with Nichole to see if she has any updates. No, nothing yet but will keep checking and let me know as soon as she does. During this time, I occasionally check out the car on their website, and one day I notice the price went up on the car. On April 17, I call Nichole and ask about the price increase and she says not to worry, the car is reserved for us at the price we agreed on. Here is my 2nd mistake, calling her and not getting this response in an email.
Finally on May 29 I get a call from Nichole and she tells me that she has good news, the car is scheduled to be fixed June 2nd and will be ready for me to pick it up....but the bad news is that the car is now $4500 more than the price we agreed on, now it is $17,990 and they have someone that wants to buy all of the Bolts on their lot but are giving me the courtesy of right of first refusal. So, you can imagine my response, but Nichole just says that she understands, and that it is not her fault, it is the owner’s, and any other excuse she can think of. Never once taking any personal responsibility. So, obviously I am not happy so she passes me on to Dan. Again, not his fault, the owner’s are the ones that are raising the price, blah blah blah. Again, not happy so they pass me up to Ed. Again, not my fault, nothing I can do, it is the owner’s decision, there are no oral contracts in the car business...more blah. Long story short, they did not honor our agreed on price. I guess I really should not be surprised, but it still upset me.
During our conversation, I tell Ed that I am going to leave an honest review about my experience, and I am fairly certain there will be a response from Cadillac of Portland, but I promise you that what I have written is factual, and I have the emails and call logs to prove time and dates. I even have a text to a friend of mine that I sent him on Dec 29, 2020 after we left the dealership that includes the agreed on price of the car and how happy we were to be getting this car.
These people are in the business to make money, PERIOD. They are not in the business of being honest or trustworthy, or providing quality customer service, or even being nice to people. We had a deal, they would not honor it...just bad business, and bad people. If they would have explained from the beginning that if the market price goes up, the cost of the car would increase as well, then I get it. But they didn't. And what makes this situation even better, is that during the time I was waiting for this Bolt to get fixed, I passed up others that were very similar, thinking that we had an agreement. And now prices have skyrocketed. I guess we are in a time where a handshake does not mean anything, and being a person of your word does not pay off in the end.
So, if you choose to do business with these people, buyer beware. Or better yet, just don't...and take your business to good, honest,...
Read moreIf I could give our experience 0 stars, I would. We had just finished with Nate next door at the Buick dealership and had to come over to this dealership to finish up the financing paperwork. Corey met us at the door and immediately was pressed about the fact that he thought he could get us a better deal. The thing was, Corey didn’t know our situation. He never asked us any questions. Just started mansplaining about credit inquires (of which I know all about) and how we didn’t know what we were talking about. He sat us down and made us wait while he tried to get us a better deal- WE WERE ALREADY PRE-APPROVED and happy with it. Instead of getting us out the door and on our way, or even asking us if we wanted him to do that stuff (I know they do it cause they make more off our business than a pre-approval) he kept us waiting still until he finally came back out to pass along a print out of information on credit pulls. Again. I know all about how this works but he didn’t know that cause he assumed I didn’t know anything. Next we are taken back into his office where he is pressed af and now, being very curt. He begins to talk about how he can get us a better deal. My wife declines and says she’s happy working with our credit union (a family friend is our loan officer there) and he gets even more upset. Throwing the paperwork towards us and again, stating, he's just trying to help and how we obviously don’t want anything to do with him (clear emotional manipulation here). Finally I looked at him calmly and said- it’s not the fact that you’re trying to help get us a better deal- we appreciate that- it’s the condescending tone for me. At that point he told us to get out.
We left with the car because again, we were pre-approved. If it hadn’t been for Nate and the incredible staff at the Buick dealership next door, this would’ve been the worst experience. No one should be made to feel stupid, unheard, and manipulated when spending a great deal of money on a car. Do not work with Corey C.
Oh, and as we got home. He texted my wife to apologize for his condescending tone and to continue to harass (since we were clear we didn’t want financing through him) us about the “better” deal we could get through him.
UPDATE: I would love to touch base with you Charles. My wife went and signed all the paperwork yesterday (due to the holiday weekend we weren’t able to do it when we purchased the vehicle). In talking with our loan officer from the credit union we worked with- it turns out Corey did run our credit. Something we were VERY clear about him not doing since we were pre approved. We’re trying to buy a house and we’ve spent a year or longer working on our credit. We chose to get pre approved to prevent the onslaught of hard inquiries on our credit. Turns out- it didn’t matter cause they ran it anyways. This is supremely disappointing. We never signed anything saying they could run our credit. No one ever asked and they didn’t need to because it’s the number one thing we kept saying. We were pre approved and therefore our credit didn’t need to be run by the dealership since it had already been run by the credit union we were working with. I’m honestly shocked Corey still works there....
Read moreI had a horrible experience here at Cadillac of Portland in Oregon. I went in to order an escalade in mid-December and was told a time frame off about 4-6 months and was told I may take even longer and I was fine with that. Even though I placed an order they still charged a markup of $2,500 which I was willing to pay at the time just so I could get my hands on an escalade. So I put a deposit down for 3k for two escalades and signed off on the order. I kept in touch with the dealer and they kept telling me that it still hasn't gone into production yet. I thought sure that's fine, the chip issue must really be an issue, and plus my estimated delivery was around May-June ish. So fast forward to yesterday, February 23, 2022, I go ahead and call the dealer to check up on the status of the order. That is when they tell me they canceled all escalade orders and are not doing custom orders anymore to get around Cadillac constraints. They said no custom orders however the two escalades I ordered were completely stock, one was a base luxury and the other one was a sport with the onyx package. Keep in mind, we have done business with them for the past 7 years. Held two escalade leases with them and referred them to my uncle who also held 2 leases with them for a total of 7 years. On top of that, we bought a couple of vehicles from the dealer as well. Here is where it gets even more frustrating. So I ask the dealer how do I buy one then. He said we will only be selling cars off the lot and if you want one you can pay a 20k mark-up from stick price. I was so frustrated. I gave them a deposit and was willing to wait out just so I didn't have to pay an absurd amount for a mark-up. I wasted 3 months waiting in false hope while they held my money. I contacted a couple of dealers including the Lockhart Cadillac dealership in Indianapolis and they said expect to wait around 8-10 months now. I am so frustrated with the customer service they provided me even though I was a loyal customer. This just shows the greed. I would not advise anyone to do business with them as they have no care for loyal customers. Once again the reason they told me they canceled my order was because of constraints however the orders I gave them had no constraints at all. A base luxury escalade is as stock as it gets. When I asked them about that, they were quiet. Overall horrible experience. Zero care for customer service. If you are looking for an Escalade at MSRP and great customer service, I recommend Lockhart Cadillac in...
