This very small diner is located at the junction of two roads, in the middle of a fork between Canyon Road and Canyon Drive. Officially it is located at the western end of a neighborhood called "Western Slope." It is somewhat difficult to see this small diner -due to its diminutive size- unless one already has a good idea of where it is located before hand.
It is a very nice family-owned diner which boasts "the best burgers in Portland." There is a small seating area inside and a somewhat larger seating area outside with vintage antique posters which line the walls.
I recently decided to give this cafe -being a "burger meister" a try to test whether their boast is accurate or not. I opted for their number one sandwich -the "Canyon Burger."
The burger was one of the largest burgers I have ever sampled. I could barely put my mouth around it. The toppings -vegetables and burgers- were of epic proportion and great quality. However, the bread was too plain; it would've been a much better burger if the cooks here simply used a good quality or even "standard" sesame seed bun instead of very plain white buns. The Canyon sauce was pretty good but I feel that there's a much better sauce out there that would've made the burger much better tasting.
The fries were pretty good and the "Arnold Palmer" iced-lemonade tea was decent.
Overall, I feel that a better burger is to be found in the Portland area -I would like to think so- but as of now the burger I sampled here rates as among the best I have tried in the...
Read moreBest burger in Beaverton (at least according to my boyfriend). The boyfriend discovered this place last week on a work trip, I joined him this week and he said this was a must go to place. It’s a cute, old school and quaint place. You can order at the window or they have a few tables for outdoor seating. We came here on a Tuesday at 130 and there were a few tables free. We wanted to dine in, so the waitress provided menus and it was seat yourselves. I went with the ABC (Avocado, Bacon Chicken Ciabatta), is this a burger? No…but it was a darn good sandwich! It was huge, I ate almost 3/4 and was stuffed. The fries were well seasoned and crispy and their dipping sauces are homemade. The ranch was delish, I love me some ranch and the canyon sauce was also excellent. The boyfriend got the Canyon Burger, besides being messy (isn’t that a good thing in judging a burger?) it was equally tasty as it was messy, with lots of stuff on the burger, a worthy combination. We topped off our stay (even though stuffed to the brim) with milkshakes to go. We went with Dreamsicle and Strawberry, the Dreamsicle tasted exactly like a Creamsicle and the Strawberry was a good strawberry shake with real fruit pieces. Looking for burgers, look no further than here! And try it out...
Read moreMy first poor experience at this restaurant. I was their only customer the entire hour thst I was there. The waitress took my order but when she returned with food I noticed that she had brought the wrong dipping sauce. Not a big issue. I assumed she would be back in a few minutes to check and see if everything was ok. She never did. I continued with my meal but was running out of water. Again, I assumed she would come and check on me for at least a water refill. She never did. I finally finished the meal but had to wait another 10 minutes for her to come with the bill. The cook was the one who noticed I was finished and finally sent her out. I told her I never got a water refill offer. All she said was “sorry.” I could understand if she was really busy with other customers but again, I was the only one. I then tried to pay with cash but was told they no money in the till. I did find $12 in my wallet to pay but she then said the bill was only $9. She was incorrect but at that point I realized she had no business being in the food service industry. All in all it was a very disappointing experience. I probably will never return and that’s sad since this had been a really good place to eat but the new owners seem to be not very customer...
