Tony's Country Store — Local services in Bedford Township

Customers beware! While I understand small businesses struggle with the transaction fees charged by Visa, MasterCard, American Express and this list goes on. What I do not agree with a merchant's like Tony's charging their customers what Tony's is calling an administrative fee of 3.5%, which is the amount they are charged for accepting credit and debit cards, without disclosing this to their customers. When I inquired today if I pay with debit will I avoid the fee. Their response was everyone is doing it which is not true. I shop a numerous other local businesses that are not charging a fee or a fee is imposed if the transaction about is below a specified amount., My concern is not that Tony's is charging what they call an admin fee but that they elected not to disclose to customers with signs at checkout. This fee only came to my attention when I noticed it on my receipt. In my opinion Tony's is engaging in unethical business practices by not disclosing their decision to impose a fee of 3.5% on customers who pay with credit or debit. I can only assume they elected not to disclose with the thought their customers...

Stopped in yesterday afternoon, I wanted to grab a pop. I was the only customer in the store when I got there another gentleman came in alone after i was already there. I waited a few minutes at the e countercounter to pay for my pop, couldn't see anyone behind the counter. The other man was at the counter behind me to pay also. Eventually a cashier came from the back said nothing to me my pop was on the counter I then noticed donuts in the case next to the cashier I asked her to purchase a few donuts, she was very rude rolled her eyes at me, I appeared to really put her out to help me in any way at all. She rudely put them in the box the man in line behind me said you seem angry today. Your donuts were very good, but an employee like her helping the customers that is that unpleasant can really hurt your business. I never look for trouble or complain, but her behavior with your customers really should be addressed. Just had to...

I was feeling nostalgic and decided to Google where I grew up and saw Tony's. When I was a little girl (early 70s) me and my friends would ride our bikes to Tony's every chance we had. Even ¢10 would do it, for that penny candy. We would get our milk there all the time in glass bottles. I believe they had great pizza. I can't wait to get to the area again and stop in.
