My fiancee and I had a truly terrible experience at this Target tonight, 1/7/2025.
We are a young couple who have both worked in customer service. We know people have bad days so I very rarely leave reviews like this, but tonight was appalling.
We work evenings so we were so happy to see this Target open until 10pm. We had exited the store by 9:15pm also, so don't assume we were there at closing when this happened.
During our shopping trip, we needed help finding an item and a young brunette woman was so nice and helpful! We decided to do a big shop and filled our cart until it was overflowing with almost $700 worth of merchandise.
When we went to check out over an hour before the store closing time, we were told by a group of rude teenage boys that we would have to self check out. They refused to check us out even when we nicely explained that due to the amount of items, we were not comfortable doing self check out. We had to threaten to leave our cart full of items for them to restock before they finally got someone to check us out.
As I'm sure you can imagine, the person who checked us out was yet again a rude teenage boy. He rolled his eyes while walking towards us, openly talked negatively about having to check us out with another teen boy employee (name tag read "Phinley" "Pinkley" or something similar, and the one checking us out was taller with brown curly hair), and carelessly shoved our items into bags, bending some of them. He bent a lampshade that we bought and it is now ruined before we've even taken it inside of our home.
I imagine the manager of this store would want their employees to prioritize making a $600+ sale, but they were more concerned with complaining about doing the job they're being paid to do.
We will never return to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām a huge fan of Target. I will spend a morning going to multiple Targets for different items in stock at different Targets. Iām an affiliate and only write about things I truly support. This Target was a disappointment. I was in the self checkout and the lady in charge there didnāt know what she was doing. She was trying to help but made things worse. My son was crying and instead of letting me try and console him she rushed me, messed things up again and pretty much the only choice I had to console my son was to leave for a minute. I got my son calmed down and came back to the check out and she had thrown all my stuff away. I clearly told her I needed to console my son and asked her to hold it for me. Iāve had folks at other Targets put the purchase on hold and even help me at a cash register. She was not looking for help, she didnāt even know her employee number and in general was very rude to me and my children. I wasnāt asking for help and to get in my face multiple times because Iām trying to console my son is not acceptable. If the line was getting long it seems like they should open registers or offer to put my purchase on hold for me. Disappointed with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile Target stocks most items that one might need at any given time, this particular Target is the messiest store in town. Compared to other stores that are in SW Austin, this store is unorganized and understaffed. Items are strewn about, shelves are empty, and there is always a long line at checkout as there are never enough cashiers. Considering 78738 is a power zip code, I would think that this would be an above-average store in terms of appearance and service, but unfortunately it falls well below average. Store management could benefit from this advice: get your people out of the back and in the aisles. If there is a mess, tidy it up, return items to their place, greet customers around the store, ask if they need help and have enough cashiers available up front for a speedier checkout. I'm sure same-store sales would drastically increase if the store experience was improved with just a few tweaks. Until then, it will always look like an episode of Super Market Sweep was just...
